During the initial meeting, I had asked how dog-proof the turf was. Since I the area being done was to be a place where my dog could be outside during the day, and also a place to "do his business." durability and hygiene were important. The salesman showed me applications of the product to large dog parks and pet shelters in the Southwest.
Within an hour of the installation, my 6-month old Lab puppy had pulled the turf back, including the 4-inch nails holding it into the soil. I called the salesman, who had the crew return and nail the carpet down with 8-inch spikes, about a 1/2-inch in diameter. By the end of the day, the pup had those pulled out as well. The crew returned a couple days later to try, once again, to puppy-proof the installation. The final repair's success is debatable, as I did not allow the dog into the area unsupervised until late last fall (9 months after installation). Since that time, the dog has pulled nails out on one occasion--I just hammered them back in.
I am pleased, overall, with the work done. I would use the company again for other applications. Labradors are strong dogs, and puppies are especially destructive. This may not have been the best application of FieldTurf, but it is serving me well.
