We needed our pool re plastered and new tile. The pool had not been done since it was built back in 2001. We moved in 3 years ago and noticed that the surface was rough and the algae would go away after treatment but would come back with a vengeance. This year I decided to let the algae take over and re plaster the pool. When I called BND they sent out their appraiser Jody. Jody was very nice and professional, he measured everything and gave us his bid. This was for chipping out the pool, removing and replacing the tile, plastering with white quartz plaster with a 7 year warranty and installing a hand rail because of my wife's knees she was having a hard time getting out of the pool. He also noticed that we had a slight lifting of the deck from the pool due to a palm tree that was next to the pool but I had removed a year ago. He assured me that they could fill the gap and make it look like new again. The contract was signed and my 10% deposit was given to Jody on 1/10/17, Jody told me that there were several other jobs ahead of me but they would get me scheduled ASAP. The weather around this time was pretty crappy so I was in no huge rush and I wanted it done right. Their scheduler Shawna emailed us a week later with our schedule and we were set to start on 3/3/2017. Friday 03/03/17 – They drained the pool, the crew came and set the pump. Saturday 03/04/17 – They removed the pump and chipped out the pool. The crew got here around 7:30 and went to work immediately and were done with the chip out around 1:00, very fast and thorough. Monday 03/06/17 - Jody came out and inspected the job, he told me that someone would be coming out to Tile the pool. At that time I gave him the 2nd payment of 60% and 3rd payment even though I didn't have to pay the final 30% until the plastering was done. Wednesday 03/08/17 - A gentleman came out while we were at work and tiled the top half of the pool. As my wife and I returned home around 1:30, we were looking at the work and we noticed some areas that didn't look right. At the spot of the gap that was supposed to be filled and around the area of our spa where the water flows back into the pool, the tiling was not even in areas and the spacing of the tiles was substandard at the most. The hand rail was also put in this day with no complaints. Jody came out that afternoon to check it and I could see the pained look on his face, he told me that he wasn't happy with the tile job and that it would be redone. I assured him that I was fine, because I could see that he wasn't fine with the work and he was going to fix it. I would rather him fix it and make it right now than have him try to push the completion of it and not be happy with the job that I was paying close to $7000 for. Thursday 03/09/17 - Once again I came back from work to find the tile guy back at it. He cleaned up his materials and left again around 3:30. I went outside and checked his work and again I saw imperfections in the job. In the same areas as before. I was going to point those out to Jody whenever he came to inspect it. Jody came out to inspect and once again I could see the pained expression on his face. I didn't have to say anything. Apparently the tile guy was a new employee and I guess I was his first job (lucky me). Jody took pictures and apologized profusely and assured me that the job would be done right. I was scheduled to have the plaster in on Saturday but due to this set back, that was not happening. Over the next few days the weather was really crappy so no work was going to be done. Shawna the scheduler called me and informed me that they were sending their other tile guy, AJ out to me to rework the tile job. As far as I was concerned, I was in no rush because I had paid in full and they were losing money not me. As long as it was done right I was fine with the delay, besides it wasn't like I was swimming anytime soon because it was too cold. Monday 03/13/17 – Around 8:00 a.m., a gentleman came to my door and introduced himself as Jon, he said he was from BND and he was the President of the company. He wanted to look at the tile job. I escorted him to the pool and he looked around and he had a different pained look on his face but nonetheless it was pained. He told me that AJ would be out to take care of the tile and the situation would be taken care of ASAP. He said he was on his way to yell at someone. (I assumed it was the other tile guy, oh-oh). Tuesday 3/14/17 - AJ arrived around 8:30 a.m., when he looked at the tile he just shook his head and said “Sir I will get this right for you, don't worry”. Every area that I had an issue with, he had already noted it and explained what he would do to fix it. He finished the job around 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. I was totally floored at the difference in work, it was amazing to say the least! My wife was out most of the day and came home and she was grinning so hard because she loved the difference. Jody came out and inspected it, no pained looks. Shawna called a couple of days later and said the plastering would take place on Tuesday 3/21. Tuesday 3/21/17 - Plaster crew arrived at 6:30 and began their process, I glanced outside and notice all of the prep work that was being done around the pool. It was a crew of about 6-7 guys and they were all busy doing something. Before I knew it they had done the job and were cleaning up around 1:00. Very fast and thorough. One of the guys taped some cloth around the ends of my two garden hoses and began to fill the pool immediately after the plaster was completed. They fill the pool from the bottom up so there is no splashing and there would be no imperfections in the plaster from water being filled from the top of the pool. He also left instructions taped to my window with the instructions on everything I could and could not do. Sunday 4/2/2017 – I am still brushing the pool to remove all of the residue, the first few days after the plastering, my pool water was chalky, it has been 12 days since the plastering and the pool is looking awesome. I started out brushing twice a day for about 4 days and now I’m down to once a day. I plan on adding chemicals tomorrow. All in all I must say that I am very impressed with the job that BND performed. Although there were some hiccups, the professionalism and genuine concern for my pool being done to perfection was something that I believe anyone would appreciate. I want to thank everyone involved in making this experience very tolerable. With everything that had gone wrong with the tile, they were very apologetic and diligent in making sure I was kept up to date on how they were going to rectify the situation. I would highly recommend BND to anyone who needs repair work done on their pool. These guys are absolutely #1 in my book!!!
