I interviewed 5 painters to paint my first brand new home recently. I decided to go with John because I felt I could trust him the most and the price was really decent. ($1000 for 2500 Sq feet.) I was really excited because this was our first home ever and we couldnt wait to have it painted and move in. After he quoted me a price, we decided on a start date. After the first day of painting, I went over the house to check out his work so far and the color after he was gone. Mind you, he arrived at 9:30am and I got to the house around 3:30. and he was gone already. There was paint everywhere. On my granite in the bathroom, on my bannister on the stairs, the mirrors, the ceilings. No tape had been used, clearly. I called him expressing concern that it looked like a sloppy job and he said it wasnt finished. We decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. After the third day we were called to come over and do a final inspection and pay the last half of the deposit. I was almost in tears when i saw the paint job. At that point, I just wanted to pay them and finish it myself, so I did and they left. I didnt want to spend three hours walking around the house and pointing out everywhere they needed to repaint. they had no attention to detail.The lines all over the house are sloppy, the place where he got the paint on the bannister was covered with a completely different white paint, there is paint all over the edges of my brand new cabinets, paint all over my light switches, fire alarams, air conditioning units, there are spots all over the house that are still white and werent painted with a heavy enough coat. I have never seen such a bad paint job. I could have hired kids to do it and it would have been done better. Now i have to spend more money to have it finished/redone. John is a very nice guy, but shouldnt be painting. Plain and simple. You will have to get it re painted once he is done.
