Eye Care - Optometry
The first time I went to see Dr. Ruckman in 2015, I thought he and his staff were competent and caring. They all seemed to get along and work closely together. All that changed in 2017 when Rachel, Sylvia, Brook and others left. I was in there often for adjustments so got to know them well. In 2017 I saw Dr. Ruckman for an exam and was told I needed new glasses which cost me $700. When I got them, I wasn’t able to see clearly so he redid the exam and told me I had told him differently last time. The glasses had to be returned to the lab for a remake with a new prescription. This happened several times, resulting in several lab remakes. My old glasses were much clearer. The same lab had made my old glasses so I kept asking if the same materials were used and if they were made the same. They kept assuring me they were until 1 day when a tech who didn’t work there asked if he could help. He immediately noticed that the base curve was different in each eye. I had been dealing with this for 6 months. This time when they were remade, it definitely made a difference and I could see much better but now they had to adjust them correctly on my face. When they couldn’t do that, I had the glasses returned for a refund as I no longer felt like they knew what they were doing. All of the previous staff had left by now and the new staff were still learning. Dr. Ruckman and his wife, Tanya (office manager) were angry that I no longer wanted the glasses so they canceled mine and my husband’s next appointments. We had no intention of returning but instead of apologizing, they blamed me for what they called “a bad situation”. They should have been able to give a correct prescription to the lab. As long as things are simple, they are friendly. They are definitely not the caring individuals from 2015. Those folks moved on.
