I spent money for him to come over and he misdiagnosed what the problem was. We found out that it was something that was very easy to do. I had him out twice or three times. The quote to fix the problem on the washing machine costed more than to replace it. It was a waste of money. He didn't complete the work. He thought that it needed a certain part which it didn't. He was fine. There was an additional because on the second visit when he came back, I paid the same amount. He spent a lot of time talking to me about washing machines. He's an older gentleman. There was a lack of knowledge on his part. He had to drive so far. He had good intentions but he was unable to fix the problem.

Richard was right on time, and found the problem, and fixed it,  Very personable, and  knowledgeable, been in the business  for
35 yrs, I liked he didn't try to up grade the part needed, and had the part in his truck.
I would refer him to a friend, which my neighbor wanted his card, so he got her one.
I would ask for him again,
I love Angies List, This is the 4th order I have had from them, and I must say all different things, and everyone is very professional, and does a great job.

Initial contact went well. He did respond to emails, made an appt, and checked my dryer. He then said he would need to order a part from Sacramento (part was available in town- I checked). Then it was "well, this is a weekend, so, for mailing we only count work days, plus it is Christmastime, so, mailing of the part can be later than normal", and "the weather is not good, so lets reschedule", and then "I am sick, can we reschedule". Meanwhile, I am without a clothes dryer. It took about 2 weeks from initial appt to having a working dryer. Although I do understand not wanting to drive in bad weather, (turns out he lives in Carson City, not Reno, which is a 30-45 min drive), I would think that you would take that in to consideration when making appointments. He actually told me on the phone that because of the distance, plus the bad weather, he preferred to come in to Reno when he had more than one appointment. Wow. Not my problem! You are the one offering the service! When an appt was scheduled, it is "I will be there between 1-4pm". That knocks out that time period for anything else. Also, the day that he did show up and fix the dryer, he called me (10 mins after time of appt), and said that he could not get to my house because of ice on the road. He was 2 houses down from me. Yes, there was ice on the road in front of my house due to a big tree across the street, but, the rest of the street was not icy. I had no idea what he wanted me to say to him. He then said that he could just park there and walk up. I had no words. I do want to state that he was a very nice man, and did indeed fix my dryer. It is the lack of professionalism with the rescheduling that was frustrating to me. I would assume that when you fix items in homes for a living, you must be prepared to drive in the local weather. Again, if it was dangerous to drive, I would completely understand, and not want you to be on the road.
Response from Any Appliance Service
"Thank you for your review. The majority of work is in Reno, so that is where I work most of the time. I know people here in Carson City who work in Reno as well. I have made effort to come out, which was not good because of your work schedule. As it was, I still had to park down the street because of ice on the road Even with 4 wheel drive Jimmy, I would need to chain up because on ice 4X4 with out studded tires or chains on is sliding on ice. My van does better with chains because of its 7,000 lbs weight. Safety comes first.. I had the serious flu, and was not fully recovered. However When you were available, I went out anyway the dryer was in the cold garage. Around Christmas time, we are busy and as always place service calls in the order received. Wheather or not I live in Reno or Carson, is irrelevant, because I worked in Las Vegas, and the distance is greater from the south valley to the north there. As for parts the local parts house at the time did not have the part. So I checked with the other. Turns out that the first time local vendor located a part number in error. I did not know. The correct part number they may had in stock. Please consider us in the future, and I will give you 25% off on repair. Regards from Richard."

Excellent service on both the refrigerator, which Richard determined could not be fixed for less than the cost of a new refrigerator, and the washing machine, one of the hoses of which broke and flooded a hallway before it could be stopped. These two incidents occurred within two weeks of each other. (Bad month.) Richard stayed in touch by phone as we arranged various visits, knew exactly what to do in both cases, fixed and upgraded the washing machine (25 years old--check those hoses, folks. If I hadn't been nearby when the hose blew--had been at the grocery store, for example, or on vacation--we could have ended up under water), did the required work swiftly and expertly, and explained the problems/solutions in great detail. Very professional, very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

I was very impressed with the professional attitude and timely response from this vendor. I urge interested parties who are considering the services of Any Appliance Service in the future or other vendors on Angie's List to always consider negative reviews for what they are, one persons perception with their own expectations not being met in this particular instance. My long term experience securing services on-line has always been a positive one simply because I weigh the positive reviews over the negative ones. In most instances those individuals reporting negative results on their experiences with certain vendors are the ones whose expectations of what they want and what they are supposed to receive are not realistic.

I bought the Angie's list coupon for this company that clearly states "$70 for a large Appliance repair" and no where in the small print details of this coupon did it say there would be any other charges other than extra charges for parts. It clearly stated that the coupon covered labor and diagnostic fees. Once the repairman arrived he would not honor the coupon i already paid for online. We got into an argument about it for at least a half hour and i even printed him out the exact page off the internet that has all the details. He still refused to comply but i felt strong armed into having him do the service because he said I couldn't get my $70 back if he left and that the fridge desperately needed the repair. I talked him into a little lower price than what he wanted to charge but i still feel like I got cheated. I even had to spend my entire morning arguing and THEN even using my own labor to run and shut off the main waterline to house 3 or 4 times as well as do other small things he was asking help for.
Response from Any Appliance Service
"This refrigerator as you stated was purchased private party from Craigs List. The original water line issue you had was an open can of worms. Prior to you and you have also mentioned that you tried to correct a leak as well. We are not allowed to turn off the main, due to liable reasons. Sometimes the main could leak after shutting off, because it was on for years and collects mineral deposits. At times when shutting down causes the minerals to grind on seal and possibly cause a leak. We cannot diagnose without an initial from you to agree that if you decline repair, then the $70.00 is the fee for the trip out and diagnostic. You refused to initial and wanted an answer as to what is needed. I mentioned I do not know, please sign as you have $70.00 credit paid to Angies List. You were reluctant to initial for over 20 minutes. After you initialed the invoice, I found serious water line issues in the refrigerator which normally would have cost $225.00 . Also the condenser fan motor normally $235.00. Non member package deal for both $295.00 flat. Your cost Angies List member $240.00 I mentioned to you . When the repairs are substantial, normally 10% off for non seniors and 15% off for seniors also military. Non members non seniors 0% and seniors also military $10%. I have given you more then 15% off, you are not a senior. Package $295.00 -15% off is $44.25. = $250.00. Charged you $240.00. . paid the tax for you. Thank you for your review from Richard D."

Mr. Dugmore called me the same day I asked for help. He arrived on the appointed time and fixed my microwave oven which has blown some kind of fuse thing. I was very satisfied with his work. Three days later, my refrigerator stopped making ice. I called Richard, and he arrived the next day and gave my fridge a good going over to make sure everything was in order before getting rid of an ice jam in the ice maker which had occurred during a power outage in our neighborhood. I would recommend Mr. Dugmore very highly to anyone with an appliance problem.

Michael called needing to change the time of service and since I couldn't accommodate mornings, he came around 7 p.m.  I had prepurchased the Repair of Any Appliance Big Deal for $79 and had already priced the cost of the water inlet valve ($58-$68 from two online sources) and had reviewed a 2 1/2 minute start to finish online video clip of the relatively simple process of changing out the part easily accessible after opening the wash machine top lid.   Michael was very friendly and knew what he was doing but, I have to admit, I was shocked when upon finishing he told me I owed  $186.11 over and above the $79 Big Deal price.   He did need to hop behind the dryer to straighten out the vent hose which is something I could never do.  I'm not unhappy with the end result.  I just was left feeling the cost was very excessive.  I did not receive any printed info on what the part cost Mike but I'm sure it was less than $70, and I made the mistake of not inquiring about the cost before the job commenced as I never dreamed he'd charge over $200 for labor given the simplicity of the part change out and vent hose straightening process .   I recommend that anyone who uses this service confirm up front what the job will cost.

Having just read Richard's response to my review, I have to admit I got somewhat lost in his detailing the labor involved in servicing a machine that is totally different than the one I own.  When I said I had viewed a very short video clip of replacing the water inlet valve, let me confirm that the video clip was specifically conducted on my type of washer, i.e., a Kenmore Elite HE3 front loader...NOT a Whirlpool top loader as Richard was describing as being much more labor intensive/difficult.  The water inlet valve for my machine is located right at the top corner, readily accessible upon unscrewing and flipping open the washing machine's lid and, from what I observed on the video clip, simply required unhooking the old part and hooking up the new part, then closing the lid and affixing the screws back in place.  I am left now with the sentiment that the Big Deal was misleading as I don't recall any reference to a $180 service call charge.  Instead I recall it focusing on provision of a large appliance repair for $79.  Given the additional information provided by Richard (after the fact), I likely would've just had my brother do the simple fix as was required in this case.  Let me emphasize that I can easily afford most any amount for any work that I have done on/in my home and that my contention remains that the labor charge, in this case, was excessive.  I do, however, appreciate that Richard took the time to respond but feel that his explanation falls within the realm of being disingenuous.  Nice to be offered a credit on a future job, but I still encourage any Angie's List customers to confirm cost factors before engaging with this business.  Lastly, I have never had an issue with previous costs incurred with over 27 Big Deals which I have used, so rest assured that my review did not originate from a "sour grapes" consumer.
Response from Any Appliance Service
"Hello and thank you for your review. My name is Richard the owner and senior technician. Some washer are more difficult then others to access the water mixing valve assm. Example; a Whirlpool top loader iss not as simple just to raise the top. It appears if you can, when in fact the top console needs to be released and flipped back to access the two large retainers which holds the complete washer body shell. It a one piece which is assembled inside out with the screws which holds the top on the inside. Not like some otheer brands or old school Whirlpool washers which had top clips in front, to depress with a small flat bladed screwdriver to release top. Our regular $180.00 plus parts. Will base it on the cost of part you found round figure $70.00. So that is $250.00 before part tax @ 8.10%. You have paid $79.00 which gives you $105 worth of repair credit. Balance $145.00. We want to earn your trust, I would offer you $50.00 credit towards any repair or 25% off which ever is greater discount for you. No expiration date. Any questions just call me (702) 809-1198. I am sorry, please reconsider us. Sincerely Richard Dugmore Regards"

Provider tech Richard Dugmore arrived precisely on time.  He examined the stove minutely.  He found several places where the wiring was wrong, and several where the wires were not even connected. He completed the repairs the same afternoon, in about 3 hours.  Because the cooktop was and is mounted in place, most of his work had to be performed while on his knees, in less than perfect lighting.

While replacing a water filter in a Maytag refrigerator should be a simple process, ours was not simple. We bought a replacement filter and could not remove the old filter?it was stuck. Looked at online DIY and learned some filters get stuck and require turning off the water which releases the water pressure before removing. This is a large double door refrigerator with a lower drawer freezer that's squeezed in the refrigerator slot and sits on hardwood flooring. Of course the water shut-off valve is behind the refrigerator. Luckily that's all it took and we did not have to replace the sensor. Richard was helpful explaining how to do it in the future if it ever gets stuck again. We bought the Angie'sList deal for $80. It took less than 30 minutes but worth the money for future reference. Poor refrigerator design and Maytag did not help us.
We'd recommend Richard for appliance jobs and will call him again. He's prompt, courteous and a nice person.
