Contractor had done a lot of work for our HOA, so I thought I'd have him do a reseal on our driveway that was installed just last year, but showed signs of deteriorating. Drive is about 3500 sq ft. He started out at $1500, but quickly came down to $1000 if I paid cash. (That should have been a warning). Well, it was more of a "recolor" than a reseal. Took about 15 minutes. The material looked like black water and was applied with a squeege. He offered to come back next year and do it again for $800...no, ok $200. Don't think so. That's what it should have been THIS time.

Response from Superior Pavement Maintenance
Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed] We are sorry you are unsatisfied with the work and have already committed to your wife [Member Name Removed] to redo the work at no charge. We warranty our work and materials for 1 year. Since we mainly communicated with [Member Name Removed] on the project, there seems to be some miscommunication. I have the proposal right in front of me, addressed to [Member Name Removed]. It clearly states a price of $1,456 which includes crack seal. [Member Name Removed] decided against doing the crack seal, so the price was reduced to $1000 for Seal Coating only. This was not a cash only discount, you were invoiced. We use only quality MasterSeal Seal Coat from SealMaster of Albuquerque. They mix it to their exacting standards, adding the exact amounts of water, silica sand and additional additives like Top Tuff additive. They mix it at SealMaster so they can guarantee the mix and warranty the materials. We used this exact same material for the [Member Information Removed] HOA roads. Your wife contacted us to do your driveway while we were doing the main [Member Information Removed] roads. We mentioned to [Member Name Removed] that the quality of the asphalt was poor and cracked with too much aggregate and not enough fillers and oils. We told her it would absorb a lot more of the seal than quality pavement would. We used a squeegee on your residential driveway because it lays down a thicker coat than the sprayer and because we did not want to overspray on any of the rocks you have in your nice landscaping. We told her that after this coat, we could charge less for additional seal coats in the future, should you want them. We completed your driveway and she did a final inspection and was happy with the work. About 3 weeks later, [Member Name Removed] called us to mention that the vegetation was dying around the edges and the asphalt would need some touch ups on the edges. We agreed but said it was too cold already being below 50 degrees F in a 24 hour period, and had put up our seal coat equipment for the winter. We told her back then we would come back and redo the entire driveway in early summer, free of charge. That still stands and is what we intend to do. Do not worry, we will be happy to honor our agreement with your wife to come and redo the driveway in the summer. The second coat will have a much more pleasing appearance as there will be less absorption than the previously unsealed asphalt. We have heard no complaints from the rest of the HOA. By all accounts the work is fine. But we will go ahead and contact them and do a site inspection to be sure. Felipe would be happy to stop by and talk with you personally to make sure you are satisfied. Feel free to call him at 505-920-7324 for a visit now, or to reschedule the rework for early summer. I apologize for the late response. We don't get many reviews from Angie's List and this one was missed. Any issues or concerns, please call me directly: Ray 480-560-9371

The steep, large, asphalt driveway loop had fallen into great disrepair and we decided it really needed to be fixed before winter sets in. We were running out of time. Felipe Marquez/ Superior Pavement Maintenance was the second company to give me a proposal to maintain my mother-in-law's driveway. His price for the work was extremely fair. He even provided three references when I asked him - I called two of them and received excellent reviews of past work done. That was good enough for me so I hired Superior. He even began the work two days earlier than he had told me all the time communicating what he was planning on doing. Because my mother-in-law had to keep her outside appointments, Felipe was willing work very closely with me coordinating the project so that my mother-in-law was not house bound on a day that she had to use the driveway to leave the house. The work is complete and the driveway has been saved. Felipe and his crew were efficient, courteous and professional. He has even offered to lay down extra crack seal left over from other jobs at no charge - Wow!
