I usually don’t like to post negative reviews for any local business but I can’t in good conscience recommend Shawns chimney cleaning after the experience I have had. He came out a few months ago and gave me an estimate to install a new pellet stove. I gave him a deposit of just over $3000 and we agreed on a set date. Unfortunately, I had a pipe burst under my floor and needed my floor replaced. I called Shawn to ask if we could reschedule once the floor was complete. He said we could. He did not advise me at that time that there would be any issue with postponing. I called him a week before the floor was to be repaired to let him know, and he did not return my call. I called him again and his voicemail was full. I called him a third time and was fortunate enough to catch him. At that time he told me he would let me know once he looked at his schedule. I waited a week and heard nothing. I called him again and once again the cycle of calls, no return calls, and full voicemails repeated itself. Finally when I got a hold of him, he snapped at me and told me he would call me when he had a date available. Once again, I hung up and waited. After not hearing from him for a few weeks. I attempted to contact him again. Once again, no return phone calls, full voicemails, etc. Finally I’d had enough. He clearly was too busy and did not need my business. I left him a voicemail telling him I was very dissatisfied and wanted my deposit back. Lo and behold within minutes he was calling me back and now he was going to be there the following Saturday. I told him it was too late. I had been patient enough and I wanted my deposit back. I asked him to mail me the deposit within a week and he said he would. It’s now three weeks later and I’ve received no check in the mail and, of course, he’s not returning my calls. My husband recently passed away and I need the $3000 back. I’ve explained this to him in a voicemail and still, nothing. My experience with him has been very frustrating, stressful, and difficult. I don’t recommend his company to anyone! Buyer beware and definitely don’t leave a large deposit.

They were very good, professional, on-time and got the work done within 20 minutes.

They did not secure the Chimney cap and it blew away. No idea where to find a replacement. Very disheartening.

I purchased a Groupon. Although I have 2 fireplaces, I intended to have only one of them cleaned. They were good enough to offer the second at the Groupon price.

During the online purchase process, I was prompted to specify my preferred dates for the service. Even so, when I had not been contacted by Shawn's by email or phone a week later, I called Shawn. He was able to schedule my service within a week which was great. On the morning of the service, Ian called ahead to say he was delayed due to bad weather in Santa Fe. He arrived about 20 minutes after the scheduled time. He was courteous and quick; he throughly cleaned the fireplace and logs, fixed a small gas leak, tested everything several times, cleaned up the area around where he had worked. He spent a few minutes showing me how to use the igniter on the fireplace and explaining how everything works.

They arrived on time and were polite and cleaned up after themselves. Overall a good experience

Ian and Michael were very professional, neat and immediately placed a drop cloth down in the area, explained the service and let me know how long it would take. The job was completed on time and they cleaned up and I was very pleased with the services provided. I would recommend them highly.

They did fine. They came when they said they would. Its been so long since I have had that type of service done, I don't know of a good comfortable price is. It seems reasonable to me. They came when they said that they would, did a good job, and I have no complaints. I don't know, I didn't look in the chimney.

He was booked up for Christmas and I didn't care. I had family here and it just seemed like a better time for us to do it later so he did like the first week in January. I'm sure the guys did the best they could, but they were very young. Let's just put it that way, and if they had done chimney sweeping I think it would have been fine. But because it was gas, they checked the gas but they weren't gas people, and they told me that, but they check the line to make sure that it was not leaking anything. I put in the thingy and the next day they called. They ran into something before my thing, but they did call me to let me know that they were running just a tad late, and I thought okay as long as you let me know. If you leave me in a lurch I'm gonna be p.o.'d.

It went OK except the technician called to say he'd be late after he was already about 1/2 hour late and asked for payment even though I'd already paid on your site which created confusion and an inconvenience. Other than that seemed fine.

Took awhile to get the part, but afterwards all went well

Scheduling was pretty good and they were prompt when they came then when they had to order the part it took a while to get that part in and then they rescheduled another visit.

He had to rig something for a chain because the damper really needs to be replaced but it works. The young man was very nice and they cleaned up their mess. It took a while to set up the service date but they got there and that's what matters in the end.

When purchasing the deal on Angie's List I provided my phone number and the dates/times that would work best for me. Didn't hear anything for a week, so called and left a voice mail. Received a return call the same day but by that point there was no appointment availability for 10 days. My appointment time was 11:00 - by noon I had not heard anything so called to to confirm my appointment. I was told they were running behind and would be there in an hour. They finally arrived shortly after 1:00 and performed the work quickly but discovered a gas leak and advised a plumber would need to address the issue. They stated they would call me with plumber recommendations - it's been over two weeks and still no call.

It went very well, no complaints.

After not hearing from them for a couple of weeks we had to call them to schedule an appointment. they were late but did call to tell us they would be late. When they got here they came in, did quick 5 minute check and told me what I already knew, the auto igniter was not working nor was the on/off switch. They offered no solutions to repair or replace the parts and quite frankly seemed to be in a big hurry to leave. I would not recommend them for this type of work.

It must of took them 1/2 the time to complete work on two chimneys, that I thought would be much longer.
