Although both the owner and the workers that came assured us they knew how to repair this unit, the longer they worked on it the more concerned we got that they didn't. We are a handy couple and know how to repair many things, so many of their tactics seemed beside the point. They took over 5 hours mainly diagnosing the issue and on hold with Carrier tech support, and then still not fixing the problem. They left saying they wanted to come back and do more work, but after charging us an hourly rate plus materials to still not repair it, we opted not to continue with them.
In the end, the details don't matter, they charged us to not fix the unit and then wanted to come back and charge us to do more "work". No thank you!
"We appreciate your feedback because we strive to always be the best and make sure our customers are satisfied. However we do feel that you are not being fully truthful with your review. Please view your email and my response below for supporting documentation regarding price : Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2015 10:56 AM To: Salazar Heating Cooling & Plumbing Subject: Re: Inquiry Hi Erica, Also, when you get a chance can you send over the pricing for tomorrows repair? We also discussed some other projects with Dennis on Monday that we are awaiting pricing on-- including duct work cleaning, duct work sealing, and replacing swamp cooler with a/c unit. Thanks! A Sent from my iPhone My Response to your asking for a price for the work was this: Hi A The job tomorrow is a time and material job, we cannot give a set price for that as they do not know what to expect. I believe Dennis said somewhere around $500 give or take. Erica Valdez Operations Manager 505-820-2007 www.salazarhr.com As you see in our emails there was not a set price to repair the unit because as I stated in the email we do not know exactly what the problem is. Upon evaluating the unit we did find a Freon leak and a problem with your drain. Locating a Freon leak and repairing it does take time, especially when your refrigeration lines are inside the wall. After locating the leak and repairing it we had to evacuate the Freon from the unit and vacuum the lines to remove the moisture to recharge the unit for proper operation. That was the first problem your unit had that we completed to get it back to proper operating order. The next part was to fix your drain problem which we were not allowed to complete because you did not want us to drill a hole to properly run your drain with PVC. A new drain was needed because the existing drain was ran with flexible tubing that was not draining when unit was removed and was not in a downward position. After fixing the Freon leak and not being allowed to repair the drain properly we did call tech support, because we did not see any other obvious reason for the unit not operating properly. Utilizing tech support is standard practice especially with all the computerized components units have. There are many different brands and no brand is exactly the same, there are many components that can cause a problem in one unit and not another. We do not see utilizing a tool made especially for this as a problem, especially if in turn it helps us save our customers money by helping us to narrow down a problem to a specific part and not replace parts that do not need replacing. We like to be positive that what we are replacing is the right part, as the parts can be very costly especially when a unit is out of warranty and calling tech support helps us to effectively do that. We cannot help the wait times at the tech support call center and always use the tech support as the last resort when the problem does not have an obvious fix. We feel that if we were allowed to complete the work it would have been to your satisfaction. (Just FYI you cannot have a Freon leak that is leaking on the floor because Freon is a gas.)"
