HANDWERK OF SANTA FE

The tiles in my kitchen were hand-painted and hand-fired by artist R.C. Gorman. I wanted to hold onto them for sentimental value. I was told by other contractors that my cabinets would have to be torn out and the tiles too. I wanted to preserve the tiles, but no one could guarantee that. I was told I could have all new cabinets if I could tear out the tile, but I wanted to hold on to the tile.

Amaleshk understood and appreciated my desire to keep the tile work. He came out a couple times to measure the cabinets. He found a way to get me new cabinets without disturbing the tile. He was able to painstakingly and with great care completely refinish all of my cabinets, and I still have my tiles.

He was a busy man, but he took the time and showed respect for me and my friendship with the artist.

Amaleshk did a remarkable job, and he deserves your attention. He was always on time and worked every minute he was here. His price was constitent with other contractors if not lower.

Quite simply, Amalesh Krien did beautiful work, on time or ahead of schedule, came in under budget on each phase, exhibited a high degree of technical skill and knowledge and provided an exceptional understanding of our tastes and aesthetics in every aspect of the project. He provided very competent technical advice and direction in several areas and has a very broad grasp of most or all aspects of construction. He engaged only the best tradesmen in accomplishing the work on our casita. We were exceptionally pleased with every aspect of his work and that of his subcontractors. We would not consider going to anyone else for our needs in construction, remodeling, and furniture making. I come from generations of architecture, construction, and artistic finishing professionals, so I know the good from the bad. Amalesh Krien is one of the best I have known and recommend him and Handwerk without reservation.

This is a dream contractor. Amalesh was my first choice to do the work on my home last summer. Unfortunately, he was booked until January of '08. Had I known then what I know now, I would have absolutely waited for him. As it is, he saw what had happened with other contractors and offered his sub, Adrian Wellesley, to come in for whatever days he could spare him to finish the poorly done and unfinished jobs two other contractors had been paid for and did not complete at all or adequately. Amalesh is a perfectionist with the calmest, wisest demeanor imaginable. Adrian Wellesley was like sunshine after months of rain. No job was impossible. Everything was done with professional integrity and excellence. I have known Amalesh personally for many years and knew what an excellent, excellent contractor and master woodworker he is, however I foolishly thought, when he wasn't going to be available for months, that others while maybe not quite so excellent, would still have a minimum level of professionalism and the job would get done by November. Not so. The difference between Amalesh Krien, Adrain Wellesley and the other contractors I stupidly hired and paid tens of thousands of dollars to is indescribable. These guys are real pros and everything one would want/hope for in a contractor and/or wood workers. But they can do everything and do so with the most pleasant, respectful, funny, perfectionist attitude.
