Child Care - Center
$130
I honestly had nothing but problems here. There's really no communication or professionalism. I started my son there as my daughter was in school. I was immediately not happy as I found the director to be rude and the morning staff to be pretty unfriendly, I never knew how much I owed, it was my job to keep track of the hours I used because I chose part time, and although they couldn't tell me how many hours I used, the director made it clear if I went over they'd charge $30 more. But I stuck with it kind of hoping once I got to know them it would get better. My son would freak out as soon as I pulled in the parking lot, he's almost 2 and it made me uncomfortable, they kept saying all kids do it and it would get better, I had left him at daycares or with people before and he never reacted that way he's generally really easy going, so it made me uncomfortable but I didn't notice marks on him or anything so I said it's okay it's a new place he'll get use to it. The other thing I noticed was when he got home he would want water and he would drink ALOT of it so that also made me nervous. Then summer school ended and I started my daughter. I brought her in to sign her up and I had made a comment to one of the girls that watch my son that she was starting to talk back, she's 6 and in first grade I imagine it's part of the territory but it's frustrating. When I signed her up the director basically threatened her before she had even done anything wrong that if she got an attitude with the ladies they'd suspend her or I'd have to pick her up and like look me in the eye and said they wouldn't put up with that. Although I respect rules it was the most unwelcoming, and unfriendly environment I'd ever dealt with and my daughter was already nervous about starting and I should have ended it there but I didn't. First week they took my daughter on a field trip to the movie theatre, I never received a note a permission slip nothing I showed up and found out when I picked her up. Then they told me that they were taking the kids to the pool the next day and she needed $5 I wasn't comfortable with that because my daughter doesn't know how to swim and it's how many kids to how many adults just didn't seem ok, so I said I didn't want her to go and they said then she'd sit on the side of the pool while the other kids swam. She started throwing a tantrum cause I said no and they lady I was talking to seemed annoyed with me and treated me like I was being unreasonable. Well on the way out the director asks if I heard about the pool, daughter still in tantrum mode, and I said yes I was uncomfortable with it and she was like awww why and sort of egged on the tantrum. So after that day I found another daycare. I was upset to find out from another daycare I probably had to give 2 weeks notice. I cam in the next day dropped my son off, as I was taking my daughter to work with me due to the pool incident cause to me sitting on the side and watching was punishment, and I had my daughter stay in the car incase there was a discussion because I thought for whatever time I had left her hearing that would undermine their authority. On my way out I asked the director if I needed to give two weeks notice she said yes I said okay i'll bring it tomorrow and walked out. To my surprise she ran out to my car to confront me and as I start explaining the list of things I was upset about, I got as far as explaining being upset over feeling over charged the week before. Because I had said I wanted to bump my hours up on a friday and came in on a monday and said well I'm not going to need the extra hours until the next week, she said she had already changed them and I said can you change them back. She didn't hear me say can you change them back, nor did she answer me as she always talked over me and so I never got an answer and assumed she'd change it and didn't use the hours. It was my fault for being indecisive but I felt it was her fault for not communicating she wasn't changing it and/or changing it. That was the only thing I was able to tell her because she started talking over me and kind of just blaming me for all of it and ended in I hope you will consider giving me another chance. Well I decided to give my notice and in the last two weeks I started showing up and it would be closed cause they didn't have enough kids dropped of or she'd close early cause everyone picked their kids up, she planned a end of the summer party and charged $7 per kid for it and I came to drop my money off and they had moved it a day back the day I was dropping my money off and didn't need the daycare and they said didn't she call you she called all the parents, I never received a call. And the day before my last day I start mentioning tomorrows the last day I'm going to need the stuff I dropped off okay we'll get it for you, morning of todays the last day I'm going to need my stuff back okay we'll get it for you, I show up to pick up last day and I was given a list of items I needed to provide and I went shopping and provided everything on the list and I barely got any of it back. I got an empty diaper bag and a bag of diapers from a shelf, and after some arguing his nap time blanket. I was shorted the 5 sets of clothes I was asked to provide for potty training which they never even did, after I was told you have to potty train your kid for him to be here, we need 5 sets of clothes. They asked me a dozen times we didn't them home, your sure we didn't send them home, he didn't get stuff home when he had an accident, no we never did any potty training he only stayed 4-5 hours at a time, well are you sure, yep shorted 5 sets of clothes. A box of wipes, sunblock, my daughters nap blanket, and a travel pillow she brought. And on my way out I noticed a sign saying they are shortening the hours they are open and shortening them quite a bit on fridays. I was at the gym and was verbal about my troubles and how I was switching daycares and I heard similar stories from girls at the gym about this daycare. I can't attest to Little Lambs II on the south side of town, I walked in one day before this began to ask about the place and they were very unfriendly so I passed.
