Roofing
In my experience other contractors take on multiple jobs at once. Paul Williams takes one contract at a time and does not start another one until complete.
See above. The repaired roof leaked with the next rain and Mr Williams did not respond to e-mails.

Auto Service
I have a 1997 Buick that didn't start one day. This dealership services GM cars, so I had it towed there. While it was there, I asked them to check the freon in the air conditioner as well. The service department identified the problem with the car to be the fuel pump, and later said that the wiring harness needed to be replaced as well, almost doubling the cost. Then they said that the A/C wasn't holding a freon charge, and needed a new compressor, all for another $800.
I couldn't afford that at the time, and thought that sounded strange, because the A/C hadn't quit working for me--it just seemed to take longer to cool. I let some time go by without using the A/C, since the service manager had told me that all the freon had been recovered from it because of the leak. One day, it was so hot, I turned on the A/C in the hope that there was a little coolant left for relief. Lo and behold, the A/C worked just fine, and has continued to work just fine with an occasional application of the DIY freon from the auto parts store (which I wasn't aware was available at the time I asked the service department to re-charge the freon).
While my car has continued to work, I have to wonder if the original $800 was overbilled, given the obviously incorrect estimate about my A/C! I hadn't taken my vehicles to that service department for a number of years because of an excessive estimate, and was hoping to find that things had changed. Unfortunately, charging for unnecessary repairs seems to still be a practice there.
