.H e took my door off, and the hardware, and took it home to sand, repair the stain and put a new coat of finish on it. He brought it back at tte end of the day, and said it was not dry, as he had just worked on it. He said he only lightly sanded it, and used a finish he said might hold up. It did not. It turned yellowish, and flaked and pealed off. I asked him to come back after winter and re-do it. He returned on May the 15th at 6:30 am;, as he said he was booked for the day. He had a small piece of sand paper in his hand, and sanded the flaking varnish off and tried to touch it up. He did not remove my door, or hardware. This methodt was not working. He was very angry I was standing there telling him that this was not working. He said he was doing his best and would I like my money back.....I said no, I just want mu door fixed. So I went into the house and left him alone. He then put a very heacy coat of varnish on my door with a 3" paint prush, which ran from the top, between the deadbolt and handle, down the sides and onto the ribs in the middle of my door. He did this with my front door on the hinges, and standing upright. I cringed as it was just awful, He left The fogging and pealing came back later that day after it dried. I called him later and told him it was absoultely horrible, and asked him to refund my money, and he said he would not, as he had done the work (he was there maybe an hour) and he said he is proud of the work he had done, and he didn't know why the door kept coming out so badly. I asked him for some compensation, as I will now have to have the door sanded to the bare wood. Which I thought he was going to do when he originally took my door home with him. He said he would not do that. I told him he should have done that in the first place. He basically said to bad. I told him I was going to post on Angie;s list, and the better business bureau, and he told me to go ahead. He did the work and wasd entitled to be paid. He stands by his work, and doesn't know why it turned out so badly. oh well............don't let this happen to you. He obviously doesn't care about his reputation, or his finished product.
Description of Work: toward end of summer last year he took my front door home to refinish it. The varnish was peeling, and the door was fading from the son. It was in need of repair. He also put a new weather strip on the bottom.
