Joe, the owner, did a great job and earns an "A". He met a tight timeline that many other folks in town could not, and that was an important factor for me. Installation crew: B. The install was good. Only concern was cleaning up a few minor spots in the rug (I believe cigarette ashes fell on it since cutter was smoking while cutting rug in the driveway, and the light grey color of the spots.) I mentioned it to Joe, he brought it up to the installation crew, they said it was from the driveway, but I used an air compressor to clean the driveway just before they unrolled the rug. So.... bottom-line I HIGHLY recommend this business!! Just keep an eye on the crew when they are out side cutting.

Not great -- would have been a whole lot better if the owner, Joe, didn't have such a bad attitude. He's nice enough when he is trying to get your business, but when a problem arises, he gets ugly. I'll never give him my business again. So here's all the details -- I had used Perfection earlier in the year to do some tile work for me in a bathroom and things went well so my Mom, who lives with me, hired them again to do this job. After the installers left we found a few problems. There were visible gaps between the tile and adjoining carpet, the grout was dark in some areas and light in others, their were a couple of corners of floor board they reinstalled that did not match up, and there were at least a half a dozen nails laying around in the carpet that my poor vacuum found. When Joe came out a week later to inspect our complaints he seemed irritated with us. He also took the opportunity to try to get more money out of my Mom saying that the price he gave her should have been higher. When he asked if she would pay it and she said "No", he said under his breath "Well I expected that" as if Mom was wrong to hold him to his price! Anyway, he finally agreed to send the guys back out. After a month of waiting, Mom called to see when someone would be out. The lady in the office, Charmaine (I hope I spelled that right), told her it would be next week and to follow up if we didn't hear anything by Wednesday or Thursday as she would be out of town. By the way, Charmaine has been very pleasant to deal with. Mom and I both have nothing but good things to say about her. Anyway, we hear nothing back so Mom calls them. After a few back and forth calls she is told that the installers will be here Friday morning. Friday morning Joe calls and says that instead of morning, it will be in the afternoon after they complete a different job. Friday afternoon a little after 4 pm Joe calls again to say it won't be until the next day. By now, Mom is frustrated and says "Wait a minute -- first you say...........then you say............and now you're telling me it won't be until tomorrow??" Joe had the nerve to tell my Mom, the customer, that he didn't like her attitude!!!! How dare he mouth off to her like that!! There are so many things I want to say about that................Uuuuggghhhhh!!!! Moving forward -- one of the installers shows up half an hour earlier than we were told he would. Luckily we were home and ready for him. I pointed out the problems to him. Regarding the gaps between the tile and carpet he said "It is my job to secure the tile to the floor not to make sure that the carpet matches up with the tile." The conversation got a little heated from there and I know I threw out the bull@!#& word a few times. Eventually he got to work. I wrote down what he said about his job not being to make sure the carpet matches up to the tile and asked him "For verification, you said......" He said "Yes." I said "Ok, I'll be sure to report that on Angie's list so that future customers will know what to expect." Then I asked him his name for reference and he said "I'm not giving you my name." Soon after the other installer, Ephron, showed up. Thankfully, he was professional. When I told him what the other guy said he disagreed and said that it WAS their job to make sure the carpet and tile matched up together so there were no gaps. The problems were remedied in about an hour. It's sad because things didn't have to get so horribly contentious. Mom and I both understand that sometimes things just don't go right. It's not the end of the world, but let's fix it. Joe's attitude and the nameless installer's attitude were so bad that I will never do business with Perfection Carpet again.
Response from PERFECTION CARPET CARE INC
"[Member Name Removed] We regret you had a less than positive experience with Perfection Carpet. I hope I can address some of your concerns to better clarify the circumstances regarding your installation. It appears that the majority of your concerns are related to the after-installation follow-up. As was mentioned to you, the carpet that existed when we arrived was installed crooked however this was not noticeable until the new tile was added. While no gaps were visible to the naked eye I understand that it bothered your Mother. However, to completely fix the issue, would have meant pulling the carpet up, pulling up the tack strip, risking cracking the concrete and reinstall the tack strip and stretch the carpet. I know you were already concerned about cost and this would have been considerably more cost and time. With regards to the areas of some dark grout versus light grout, Joe pointed out that some sort of stain must have occurred after the grout was placed, and the odor of dog urine was prevalent. When this was discussed no agreement could be reached. It began to feel like no matter what Joe said he was accused of lying. It felt as if nothing he could have said could make you or your Mother happy. In reference to the trim (corner of floor board) not matching, you will recall that Joe indicated that the tile naturally raised the level of the floor compared to the previous vinyl. In fact, if you will recall he even hooked you up (referred) with a handyman to trim the cabinets above the refrigerator with this new higher level. Regarding the events around our installers returning to your home, as you might guess the type of work we do isn't always 100% predictable. We can't be certain when we start a job what we will find underneath the existing flooring. (As you mentioned you both understand that sometimes things don't go right). Unfortunately that was the case on the job we were performing from the day before it simply took much longer than expected-when a house is upside down and they can't even sleep in their own home we can't leave them in the lurch (as an example the installers were at that job until 8 pm). We regret that it took an extra day. Joe's comment out of frustration was based on the fact that your Mother was yelling at him and he was just trying to be helpful and keep you informed. What was interpreted as an attitude by the first installer was simply him trying to re-explain as best he could that it is not possible to correct a previously installed carpet. It is unfortunate that he did not explain himself to your satisfaction. We traditionally have had many many strong positive responses on Angie's List. In fact we have 11 A+ ratings with a total of 19 reviews on Angie's List and we are extremely grateful for people to take time to comment on the wonderful professional work we have done. It is hard to get people to go out of their way to say positive things about a business. At the end of the day, we regret that you had a negative experience with our company."

They were fine. They seemed knowledgeable about the job that they had to do. It didn't take them very long and they were out. Angie's List made me decide to use them.

They were great and wonderful. They were very good. The price was reasonable. I went to a branded store and they wanted to put the concrete pad on the top of the vinyl. I later learnt that it's actually an unsatisfactory way of doing things. Perfection did a very good job. Their price was very competitive. The quality was very good.

Joe is very money oriented and let us know what a great value we were getting as if to say we needed to leave him a huge tip or something. Work was decent but not necessarily any better than if we rented from rug doctor. There are a lot more details here but the guy is a bit mafioso so not going there.

They did a fantastic job. Neat, friendly, professional. Before they did anything, Joe (owner) came to the house and gave me a written estimate. Then he and his cleaning guy came to do the cleaning and in less than 2 hours, they moved everything, cleaned and re-arranged everything just perfectly. It could not have been an easier process. He told me that one room absolutely had to have new carpet. So I went to his shop, to pick out carpet. He had exactly what I was looking for. It was reasonably priced. They installed it in a couple of hours. Joe measured really well, there was very little left over. We talked after he was done about vinyl in my two bathrooms. He gave me an estimate, on that as well. I picked out what I wanted. Everything was just so professionally done. They installed the vinyl. The only problem was that his supplier sent the two pieces of vinyl and one was not what I had ordered, but I liked it so they went ahead and put it in. They did a good job.

The owner came out and gave me an estimate. He was not happy with the way the carpet had been cut and warned me that it might be difficult to get a good seam. His workers came out a few days later, reattached the carpet, and seamed the carpet. From the other room, I could hear some swearing at one point, leading me to think that someone had perhaps made a mistake in the re-cutting. When they finished, they pointed out that there was a foot long area in the seam where it was still visible. They stated that they could not stretch the carpet enough to give them enough carpet to cut the seam straight. As the owner had warned me about this, I did not feel I could complain. However, the swearing I heard made me wonder if a mistake had been made along the way. Overall, the job was done in a manner I could live with for the time being (until we replace carpeting in a few years).
