Loki's Homeology

I apologize in advance for this long review. I have a lot to say. I decided to go with Loki's for the above project based on a positive review and good initial meeting with the owner. I had received quite a few estimates, but a lot weren't licensed, bonded, and insured, and others just didn't seem right for the job for various reasons. I searched extensively using the internet, newspaper, and phone book, too. Loki's provided a very competitive estimate, and it seemed like the total package. I was very wrong. The owner promised he would provide the estimate that same day. He only provided it two days later after a couple of phone calls from me, both unanswered. It's good customer service to be a person of your word. If you are unable to do so, a call apologizing and offering a solution is definitely in order before the customer has to contact you. He failed to do that. I accepted his excuse as valid and gave him the benefit of the doubt. That was a common theme during my experience with Loki's. He often didn't do something at a promised time and came up with excuses as to why he was unable to. The owner performed the work, and he just seemed indifferent to me and the project in general. He also failed to provide a receipt or invoice when I paid him cash upon completion of work. I sweated it out for three days while he offered excuse after excuse as to why he was unable to send it via email. I would never pay cash again or would demand a receipt prior to payment. He was miraculously able to send it three days later after all previous attempts had failed. That was my experience with Loki's poor customer service. Now it's on to the workmanship. It's been just over a week since the work was completed, and the more I see the work, the more I feel it looks as though an amateur did it. The grout cracked one week-ONE WEEK- after he finished. I shared my concerns with the owner about the grout cracking because that was the main reason the old tile had to be replaced. A lot of good that did. Some tiles stick out more than others, some grout lines are not uniform (he even used spacers), and the job seems hastily done. To tear tiles out at the point I noticed these things would have probably resulted in even sloppier work. He seemed very anxious to leave each afternoon, and I was left cleaning or touching up after he left. I felt he didn't do enough to protect the existing property, except during demolition. Was the workmanship horrible? Not necessarily. Could a person who has installed tile a couple of times in his or her life have done as good a job or better? Definitely. I would not go with Loki's to even pull a weed on my property, much less anything that requires any skill. I would not recommend him. That was my experience with Loki's Homeology. Take it for what it's worth.
