Justin inspected the situation, came up with a plan, and adjusted accordingly as the usual surprises showed up. Everyone involved showed up when they said they would and the job was in many respects done better than expected.

Justin is responsive, easy to work with, conscientious, reasonably priced, and does a great job. I hired him based on several positive recommendations, including Angie's List, and his reasonable estimate. I was happy with this decision and hope to work with him in the future on additional home repairs.

From Justin's proposal to his finished work everything went perfect. Justin and Tim are very knowledgeable, hard workers, easy to work with, very honest and trustworthy. Our finished deck is beautiful, solid workmanship, and really has added value to our home. We are extremely pleased with all aspects of Justin's work and will have him do work for us in the future.

It took a long time. That was frustrating. But, there was a lot of work to do. Over the course of the work, they pulled out massive amounts of demolition debris, carpet, and rock. There were long periods of time when it was hard to imagine that it would ever be done. But, it continually moved forward, and every week the progress was visible, and more often than not, amazing. It was not possible for me to completely envision the end product, and I worried about it a lot.

The stairs project turned out to be the hardest, since code regulations ended up forcing them to be much larger than we at first believed. Note that prior to Justin making his initial estimate, two other contractors had already estimated what would need to be done here, and they both underestimated the final size even more. This involved a lot of revision of the project, and did increase the cost, due to unexpected rerouting of plumbing and gas, and ultimately, caused me to make the decision to redo the floors. Despite the unexpected pain of these changes, Justin helped us through, and performed the changes admirably, and ended up with a final product that now feels like we lost nothing in the process, but gained beautiful improvements.

Through it all, Justin and his partner Tim we professional, courteous, communicative, and in many ways went our of their way to improve upon the initial plans that I had made. Where another person might have simply cut the easy corners, Justin saw to it that the job was done better than planned. This included demolition and removal of unexpected and quot;outcropsand quot; of granite and basalt that previous builders had simply built around. Furthermore, one of the most impressive things that I saw Justin do was pull in other subcontractors that were highly qualified and professional as well. In this, Justin was like my own personal Angie's List, because he saw to it that the other work done, from the plumbing/electrical, the flooring, and even the repairing/resetting of the carpet after all the other work was done, was the highest quality. It was clear that Justin's skills are extensive, but he will not hesitate to have work that is not in his area performed by the best available people.

I cannot understate this seemingly small effort too much -- how many times have you had work done by someone who was less than skilled in a particular part of that work, and yet did it themselves and turned in a substandard job anyway, rather than either tell you that they could not, or get someone who was capable to do it. What Justin did was to see to it that every aspect of the work was done the best it could be, by pulling in the best possible people for the job, which for the main work of course included himself.

Justin also took initiative in much of the remodel process, added improvements that I never even considered. From the countertop in the kitchen, to the improvements to the bathroom design, up to his last day on the job, when he handcrafted a complex and continuous stair railing, he took the extra steps to make the end result better.

When they were done, they cleared up the place so that areas that only a week before were massive piles of debris to areas that left little evidence that they had been there.

We are very happy with the new bathroom, and everything in it has turned out as good or in several instances better than we could have hoped. The new staircase is beautiful, and the new oak wood floor is outstanding.

Justin is NOT a licensed general contractor, so I had to do this remodel under a owner-builder permit with myself as the general contractor. Justin helped a lot on these issues, but could not legally take responsibility for them. If you are prepared to take on this responsibility, Justin does great work, and is very inexpensive compared to a licensed general contractor. Things take a little longer because he is essentially a two man crew. His work is very good, especially his finish carpentry, which is his real love.

We have had some minor follow-up issues to deal with, which should normally be expected from the major work we did. On occassion it has been a little difficult to get Justin to respond on these follow-up issues. This was not a problem during the remodel itself.

Justin was very nice, quiet and has a good reputation. Some of the work I requested he perform was to correct the poor workmanship of the previous contractor. This contractor is friends with Justin so he may have decided not to take the job for fear of conflct. Or, some contractors are skittish about repairing other peoples poor work. I don't know but I never saw or heard from him again after our initial walk-around.
