We needed a gate replaced for our front patio. Torres Welding made some nice security doors for us years ago and we wanted them to match the style and color of the new gate. The short story is we are happy with our gate and would use them again. Just be very particular about your requirements up front.
-Torres was prompt to come out and get measurements for the installation. Good.
-The quote seemed too high to us and they agreed to a lower price. Good.
-We paid about a third up front for the gate. Reasonable.
-We were told the delivery would be about 8 weeks or so due to a busy season. Reasonable.
-It turned out to take a couple weeks longer. Not a big issue.
-When they did come out to install the gate they discovered it was hinged on the wrong side so they repaired the gate on site and installed it. Good.
-The gate didn't open completely because the arch in the top collided with part of the wall. Bad.
-The handle couldn't be reached from outside the gate by an average size person. Unacceptable.
-Torres initially rebuffed my concerns about the gate's utility but eventually worked out an agreeable compromise. Good.
-I took the gate to their shop and they removed the arch on top to make it a rectangular shape. Great.
-They didn't quite finish the gate assembly but I was able to do so myself and re-install. OK.
They treated me respectfully, as I did them, even when I was unhappy with the product. Although it took some perseverance on my part, they corrected everything to my satisfaction. We love our gate.
