Garbage Collection
We had used Southwest Disposal for about 6 years and had also set up an auto-pay arrangement just so we would not have to bother with monthly payments. All OK - for a while. I then noticed that Southwest charges to our bank had doubled over time - from about $20 to about $40 (pretty pricey for 1 or 2 pickups per month)! I considered that to be a gross violation of an auto-pay arrangement and a gross breach of trust! I also discovered that that sort of shady dealing is a usual business practice at Southwest. I had planned to fire Southwest and change to Mesilla Valley disposal - only to belatedly learn that Mesilla Valley had been bought out by Southwest. Not happy - but I did get my payments reduced back to about $20 again. Keeping a watchful eye now - and still looking for alternatives!

When we bought our home in Las Cruces 2 years ago, we were still California residents. We signed with Southwest Disposal because the previous owners used that company. When we first hired Southwest Disposal, we found it difficult to reach the company by telephone to set up a billing process. They did provide reliable service for two years to our house while we used it as a vacation home.
However, when we moved into our Las Cruces residence on a full-time basis this summer we found that Southwest Disposal has very much improved its customer service. When we telephoned them to ask for advice with our "move-in" disposal needs, the phone was promptly and cheerfully answered by the company's representative. She immediately understood our problem and was eager to help us. She told us that she would ask the area manager to contact us.
I thought, "promises, promises," but the very next day we did get a call from the area manager to arrange a visit to our home. As detailed above, her assistance and advice were valuable to us. She was very cordial and knowledgeable. Although we had already been customers for 2 years, we felt that we were valued and that the company cares about providing ongoing service to the Picacho Hills community.
