Aaron (Sapien), the electrician arrived at the time agreed upon, reintroduced himself - we had met in person the day before - and then checked the wall switch to which the light was connected.
Saying the problem might be a bad switch, he drove to a nearby hardware store, bought a new switch, returned, and swapped them out. Voila! There was light! Fantastic.
The cost to us was $120 for a minimum 3 hours - which he had been quite clear in quoting to us beforehand. Nevertheless, paying this amount smarted a bit since he'd completed the job within 40 minutes. (No, I did not anticipate the job would be so small or simple - oh, well.)
He was extremely professional and polite throughout, patient in answering our questions about the work completed as well as future electrical work we would like to have done.
