She didn't show up Thursday morning as promised so we called. She said something had come up and would be here at 9:00am Friday. When she hadn't arrived by noon we called and she said they'd come Monday.
She did come Monday and measured the yard but didn't bring anyone to look at the porch. She said she'd do the calculations and give us an estimate that would be good for 45 days.
We haven't heard from her since.
It seems pond-S-scapes is more of a hobby than a business.
"customers had very limited budget, staff member with experience needed to do job's had parent with heart attack(in another town over 300 miles away), the day of the visit. Customers called and informed that there would be a delay. When staff member finally was able to return - called to set up new appointment - customer responded in very negative manner. Declined to work with customer."
Linda bid a price of $18,000, but final price was approx $25,000. Then had to spend approx $10,000 for a couple of capable contractors to fix everything; plus my own labor. The electrical work was extension cords with the ends cut off, which shorted out when it rained. When we complained Linda took the pond lights and never returned. We were told, she used them in another project. She would not accept any responsiblity for the electrical problems we had after the pond installation (and her contract said "she did not perform any electrical work"). How does a company that installs pond pumps and pond lights not perform electrical work.
Check out BBB of New Mexico for reviews of her work. We wish we had. And most important - read the contract carefully! It is really hard to sue Linda the way the contract is written - everytime she is sued, she probably rewrites the form.
"Customer made changes with change orders from the start which increased the costs of the contract. Contract states that we can not due work that requires an electrician or plumbing contractor and that specialized work must be done by these people. The homeowner is to supply source for electrical outlet and water. We can do work that can be plugged into an electrical outlet or screwed on to a hose bib. This customer cemented the base of their fire pit. This created moisture in the rocks and cement which created a problem after a rainstorm. We are limited by the Construction Industries Division. This customer had a relative do some of the work that required a a licensed contractor."
"This is a very nice person to deal with. She purchased a home which had an exisiting cement pond which leaked. We replaced the pond with an eco-system pond which worked well for her until her medical condition got worse. We were very happy to work with her."
"This customer hovered over our workers during the entire process. Multiple changes were made with change orders which were signed and dated which increased the customers' cost. When given the choice of materials to use for various projects customer chose the cheapest solution even after being told that this solution would only provide a tempory solution (crusher fine patio) Customer was pregnant and hormonal. She made changes on a daily basis. Much of the materials was provided at a discount. Company owner drove customer to pick out rock. Material supplier delivered the wrong color rock, then material supplier failed to make timely pick up. Company paid all suppliers for materials used. Material supplier with wrong colored rock later filed an illegal lien. When company was informed of lien - company wrote affidavit about illegal lien and worked with NMAG to get lien removed ( material supplier later went out of business for this practice.) Customer and husband were difficult to work with and expected new landscaping to fix existing landscaping (not worked on in yard. Company only used respected suppliers in this area. Customer blamed company for existing problem in the yard that were not part of company project. Company did more than contract called for."
