I used Angie's List to find someone reputable. I had someone else come to my home. He cleaned out my chunks of ice, used a hair dryer and then 3 weeks later, it acted up again. Not satisfied with my first experience, I came back to Angie's to find another person. Tom & his wife were out-of-town, but he called as soon as he returned. Came to the house, pulled out the fridge, told us we didn't need a new appliance but may need a new compressor. He performed diagnostics and determined we needed the part, which came in a few days. He installed, did another round of making sure all was working and we gladly paid him! He saved us from buying a new fridge/freezer which would have cost us more than his fee. We haven't had a problem with our freezer since.

Owner, Tom Story came, quickly identified the problem, was able to remove the problem which required removing the
drum from the dryer,
and cleaned up the inside of the dryer. He offered some ideas on how to keep the problem from recurring, and
how to get better performance out of our dryer.
We've used Tom Story before for appliance repairs. He has knowledge from being in the business for so long.
He is happy to offer options (after giving his opinion of what's the best way to proceed) and, just as important
as anything, he understands that the typical Las Crucen is not wealthy.

Upon payment of initial diagnosis visit for Clothes Washer of $75, would not give a receipt, though he used a one write system and had the original and copy in his hand. He claimed his bookkeeping wife needed both copies, and it would be provided upon completion of the repair next visit. I would be issued a final receipt which would show what I already paid. I have been an accountant and bookkeeper for over 40 years, and I never heard of such a system, and told him so.
He promised to call with estimate next day after finding out cost of the part. He did not call back for several days, even after I left him a daily message on his tel. ans machine. A week later, he finally called and stated he had a family member with a health emergency which kept him in doctor's office all day, but did not get the rest of my messages.
After fixing Clothes Washer I asked if he would look at Dishwasher that I had a complaint about, which he promptly disassembled in 15 minutes and found nothing wrong. He convinced me I did not understand how this particular model worked. He then charged an extra $50 for the Dishwasher without first telling me the cost to look at it. I was under the impression that a and quot;lookseyand quot; would be gratis since he was already on my my premises doing work. He should have clearly announced this was a second and seperate charge before disassembling it.
He did provide final receipt as stated.

We learned from a different service provider, whom we called months later to get a second opinion, that the very first part installed by Home Appliance Service Inc. had been incorrectly installed--that was the source of our continuing problem. The second more expensive part ordered by Home Appliance Service Inc. was unneeded. If Home Appliance Service Inc.had looked at the available (in our home, attached to the stove) schematic diagram for the stove, he would have known what the problem was. If he had followed the schematic diagram, he would have installed the first part correctly, and there would have been no need for further service calls and parts we did not need. No wonder Home Appliance Service Inc. is not licensed.

Call was made and went to voicemail. Return call set up an appointment. Service tech called and said he could provide service 3 hours ahead of appointment time. He arrived and discovered the problem within 7 minutes. He informed me of the problem and repaired the refrigerator quickly. Other company claimed it was the condenser, but Tom (service man) was honest and was very specific about the problem.
