Our original plans were different from the final design. Paul Korody evaluated our plans and suggested changes due to the expense of what we originally asked for. We took his suggestions and ended up with a quote about half of what our original plan would have cost. Paul was professional and so were his crew. They showed up on a Monday morning and finished by Friday, completely to our satisfaction. Docked one notch for missing our first consultation appointment and not calling back by the next day. We almost passed them up because of this. All other criteria we were completely satisfied and would definitely recommend using them again. I did not rate them on price because we are unfamiliar with the landscaping business and other landscaping companies we contacted were unable to quote us right away due to their workload. The pricing did come in under what we had budgeted, so we were satisfied.

Paul and his crew of reliable, professional workers are great! They show up when they're supposed to and do the work quickly and efficiently. They are polite and conscientious about their work and the disruption it makes in your life and household. Green Lizard is way more than a landscaping company. I initially used them to landscape our backyard a couple years ago and when I needed to update my home to get it show ready to put on the market, I didn't hesitate to call them again. I feel comfortable that I will get quality and honest service from Green Lizard. Paul is a hands-on owner whose follow up and attention to detail is second to none. I highly recommend them for all your home maintenance and landscaping needs.

The work went well, the crew was on-time, completed the job in about 3 days, they cleaned up the property and their work was extremely satisfactory.

At first good.  Later, calls weren't returned and they never showed up to complete the job.  Lesson learned:  Will never use this company again.

Three small ocotillos ($195) were refused  as being greatly over-priced -- they were so very small that there was no need to pay anyone to plant them -- they could be done with a hand trowel.  Two little apricot trees ($290) were also refused as being overpriced, and with careless bark damage.
I had hoped to do a much larger project: trellises with grapes, raised garden, additional shrubs, along with some removal of dead material after the cold winter, etc.  His verbal estimates of some of the work were so high, that I found other people to do it, did it myself, or postponed it.  He was not eager to please the customer.  I was prepared to spend a substantial sum if I had found a responsive and knowledgeable provider. I was disappointed.
Mr. Korody may have been too busy to pay much attention to my project, I don't know.  He seemed very professional when he first came to talk, but didn't follow through well.  He seemed to have little knowledge of horticulture, and little feel for plant materials.  His promotional photos featured hardscaping, but we didn't get that far in my project, so I can't speak to his skills in that area.
If we had had a productive working relationship, cost alone would not have deterred me from continuing with him.  I felt he was unresponsive, perhaps even dismissive, and I was concerned about his lack of interest and knowledge regarding plant materials.  If he hasn't completed the Master Gardener program, I would recommend it to him. I hesitated to do this review for some time, but I think it only fair to others to get it done.I'd like to put in a good word for the two young men who were actually doing the work.  They were hard-working, pleasant, and concerned with doing a good job.

From our very first meeting with Mr. Korody of Green Lizard LLC to our final walk-around of the finished project, the consistency, quality and accountability  of his company's work never waned.  Extra work was done which was not outlined in the project and not charged. The project stayed within budget.   Mr. Korody was patient and dealt with changes (additions) to the project. His ideas went beyond the typical local landscaping trends.   His crew was punctual, respectful, and neat. After many disappointing past experiences with landscaping companies we have finally found one  concerned with quality, value, and its customers.
For anyone who really enjoys and lives in their garden/yard, Green Lizard is the company to turn to.

Because the work took longer than estimated, the fish languished in the kiddie pool for two days and finally died. A more experienced crew would have refreshed the water and prevented this.

At the beginning with GLL the idea was for them to do xeriscape landscaping in the front and back yard, along with a rock wall in the backyard. Plans were drawn, and set. Few weeks later when the GLL crew was here to start the project ( rock wall) I told them to stop the project. They said OK and left. The Owner came by a few days later asking why the project was canceled and I told him that we changed our minds and didn't want the work done in the back, He explained to me he already applied for the permit and reserved man hours for the project. I understood this and said to bill us for the hours wasted and the cost of the permit.I asked GLL to continue the project but just focus on the front yard and drive way. The work was done as planned, except when the laid the rocks out they didn't put the weed barrier down before hand. When I reported the issue with GLL and asked for them to redo the work they refused, stating it was to labor intensive. I asked him how could they have forgotten one important part of landscaping he said it was just an over-site. They offered to do landscaping maintance for 3 months but everyone knows weeds grow year after year.

Update:
Whether your crew was new or not, you should of done the work that I paid for. It's not my fault that your "relatively new crew was inexperienced" and Paul refused to put the barrier down when I called him on it. If you want to do right by this come over and place the weed barrier down where it belongs.
Response from Green Lizard, LLC
"Dear member, We sincerely apologize and wish that you would have contacted us sooner. In 2006 our crew was relatively new, and inexperienced. In six years we have refined our craft and hired a very experienced, professional crew. We would appreciate another chance to prove ourselves, but understand if you do not wish to call us again. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you."

They also stayed within my budget, which was appreciated.  The landscape and lighting work was done in a timely manner, and the plants and flowers look amazing.  I have the highest praise for this company.

Paul arrived at the appointed time to give estimate and was very helpful with questions and suggestions. A written estimate was e-mailed to me for approval and date set for work to be done. Workers arrived on time and worked straight through until completion. They were polite and courteous and answered any questions I had.

We could not be more pleased with the work and professionalism that was shown. Ground was prepared with Bobcat.  Existing scrub brush was removed. Holes for new trees were dug with Bobcat.  Trees delivered in nearly pristine condition.  One tree was damaged and the owner deducted a fair amount from the bill. Area was mulched and work area was left in great condition. Very pleased.
