The general contractor did not supervise any work but turned the job over to his son which was not what we expected. The final result was good but numerous problems were encountered and owners had to request work be touched up or redone. Workers were always ready to redo work done wrong which we had to point out instead of doing it right to begin with. There was a lack of effort to protect existing property such as floors until we pointed it out and several floor tiles had to be replaced but fortunately we had extra tiles from original installation 15 years earlier. This happened several times. Part of shower tile had to be removed and redone because non-professional appearance of the entry. The shower tile grout (expoxy grout) was not properly cleaned up and created rough smudged tiles which had to be cleaned several times (final cleanings by owner after job was over). Outside tile professionals were hired for kitchen splash tile and second bathroom at additional cost because we refused to let company installers do it again. There were numerous problems with stained molding not matching existing molding. In replacing some door molding to match the stain, improper sized nails were used damaging a pocket door which then had to be replaced. Numerous small problems were fixed by owners because workers were on other jobs and kept putting off repairs. Delays of work were common, some due to owners and some due to company. Some workers were very skilled but others were not skilled and were not sufficiently supervised. Constant oversight of all details by owners was required. Original contracted cost was reasonable but several disagreements on final bill which company refused to reconsider including a minor amount of company materials purchased by owners not reimbursed.
