My dining room is rather small and almost square, so I wanted a small table that was elegant, but also would extend to a length capable of handling at least 10 for a dinner party. I had searched for a table for several years but nothing 1. satisfied my taste and 2. was flexible enough in configuration. Finally I decided I would explore the possibility of a custom-made table, and that led me to Scott Ernst's website. One look at his work let me know that I needed to look no further. A phone call led to a prompt consultation in my home where together we explored possibilities of style and size. Scott listened patiently to my concerns, made suggestions, and soon afterwards delivered a mockup of the final design. There were probably 3 in-house consultations and several emails back and forth before the final design ( leg shape, veneers, table top curve) was signed off on. The delivery day was as scheduled--no delays--and I was completely pleased with the result. I am not an easy client, but I was thrilled with the beautiful table from the moment I saw it. It is beautiful, functional, and surprisingly affordable. Scott is easy to work with, does exactly what he says he will do, and exactly when he says he will do it. I highly recommend him.

We had 8 chairs that came from a place my husband and I worked. They were beautiful maple chairs that were being thrown out due to remodeling. We bought them and had them refinished. We needed a table to go with them and we had very specific ideas about what we wanted. We found Scott through an internet search. We contacted him, and he came to our home as he promised. He explained how the climate in New Mexico impacts furniture and how it was important that the table be built to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the wood. As the table is 8 feet long, this is an important factor. Scott made some sketches as we talked, and we agreed on a design. He took a chair so that the finishes would match. He was able to fit the job into his schedule right away, and we had our table within a few weeks. We are thrilled with the table. It is beautiful and matches the chairs perfectly. The price we paid was well within reason even compared with what we could have purchased ready made in a store, assuming we could find anything near what we wanted. And the workmanship is beautiful. Working with Scott was a real pleasure and we now have a table that is heirloom quality.
