I've used Al's service on two occasions. The first one I describe what was going on, he diagnosed the sound my VW turbo was making and based on what I said fixed it in short order. That service get's an A grade. The second time I went to Al's with some strange brake sounds. He misdiagnosed the sound but found issues with the front brakes that needed to be fixed. The sound remained so he kept it for two more days and found the source of one clunking sound and what he thought was causing a squeaking sound. He fixed the clunk but I'm going to have to take it back for another round of work to figure out why one of the other sounds isn't going away.
Update: Replace the other rear rotor and the squeak went away. Did this service for only the cost of a new part. No labor charges. Yeah! Very pleased with the completed work.

Unfortunately, you don't get A's for effort in car repair. Because Al certainly put in the effort.
Back story: My VW blew an engine, and Al does the only inport repair in Farmington. So he put a rebuilt engine in over the course of a month. $5000
As I'm driving the thing home it fails a turbo. He takes it for another month. This repair is included in the warranty.
I pick it up, start driving it home and the turbo fails again. Al says this time it's out of warranty, so I get to pay for it. To the tune of $2000, and another month delay. I don't feel like it's my fault that he ordered and installed a poorly rebuilt turbo.
This whole thing could have been avoided if he had sourced a rebuilt engine/turbo from a reputable supplier.
Next time I'll trailer it to Albuquerque.

I had self diagnosed the problem as a bad alternator which I replaced. When the problem was not solved I took it to a mechanic.He was able to find and corrwect the problem along with some other minor problems
