Sewer line slowed down during the cold spell and continued to get worse. Called Zane's and they cleared the blockage.

They did not do a very good job. They switched the hot and cold valves when they fixed it. They had to come back and switch the valves back. I would not recommend them or use them again.

The house has had problems for years with flooding in the basement from bad lines. Zane tapped off the two sewage pipes that run under the basement slab and diverted them out to the back yard to connect to the line that runs to the alleyway sewer main. In the process he found that where a previous repair had been made, joining plastic pipe to the original clay pipe, a huge ball of roots had lodged in the joint because it was not supported, and sagged, creating a low spot where water accumulated in the pipe. This had caused us to have to roto-rooter a couple of times a year. They replaced the pipe and blocked under it so it wouldnt sag, salting the area with copper sulfate to prevent future root growth. At the same time (this was a major project involving digging up the back yard) they found a gas line that was leaking, and the line was not up to code, as it entered the basement under the ground. This was replaced, and although the labor came to almost twice the original estimate, Zane did not charge beyond the cost of the estimate.
