 + -1 moreI brought in my piece which was in a 45 year old frame and with my permission they gently removed it. We discovered there was another manuscript on the back which was less faded and which I preferred. They guided me as to the correct type of framing for this piece, as well as showing me a different piece they had just completed for another customer, framed so the front and back could be viewed. They listed the pros and cons of each type of mounting. They had a board where they placed my piece with magnets while we tried out different frames and matting until I was satisfied. It took 2 weeks, as they had said, and we're delighted with the result. It cost more than I expected, but I'm new to ABQ and realize this is a quality framing business and the piece is a family heirloom.
Description of Work: I brought in an old and valuable manuscript on vellum, and they did a wonderful job in assisting me to choose the type of frame, glass and colors. They had experience with this kind of framing and were very helpful, friendly and professional. They re-framed it with acid free materials.

 + -1 moreThe two projects turned out great. The treatments that were chosen added to the enjoyment I have had looking at my mementos from a wonderful trip.
Description of Work: I had 2 framing projects I wanted done, a set of small cards and a 8x10 picture. The set of cards were grouped horizontally together in one frame and matted, with the two end pictures double matted. This treatment added dimension and more interest to the overall picture, looks great! The other picture was matted with two different colors that made the picture pop! Both of these projects were further enhanced by the selection of the frames.

 + -1 moreI started by having them review some Japanese engravings that I had bought in the 1980's. They were able to take them apart and upgrade the mats and glass to conservation quality to preserve them properly. After that, I've taken them a pretty rock that my mother valued, and they were able to build a shadow box frame that showed the rock off beautifully. From simple cards and posters to treasured pieces, I have every confidence that Frame-n-Art and Suanne and Michael Derr will protect, preserve, and show them off to their best advantage.
Description of Work: I have had several framing projects completed very professionally by Frame-n-Art. They practice conservation framing, which is needed here. They have also inspected my older art pieces and upgraded the framing on them to properly protect them. No matter the framing challenge presented to them, they are able to complete it promptly and professionally. My art has become even more valuable with their expert treatments.
