I called to have an appraisal of my front and back yard completed which at the time was all dirt (new construction). Mike (the owner) had come out that same day, which was wonderful. I'm a work horse myself so to see someone come look at our yard so quickly thrilled me! Then, it went down hill. He wrote up an estimate and said to call whenever we decided on what type of landscaping to do. My husband and I came to a decision that day, and called back to arrange an appointment to have both the front and yard done. It took four phone calls to finally get some answers. Mike is the only one to who schedules the work done so his sales associates/receptionist is almost worthless. She had no idea when he was coming to complete the work, nor seemed very helpful in getting the answers. There was also a gentleman we spoke with over the duration of these phone calls and said "I took your information and he will call you back" - no call back. After two weeks we finally get ahold of Mike and his response was "I scheduled you guys the day I came to see you, no one told you?" - Nope. He said he scheduled us for a Thursday but if he could fit us in, he would come on Tuesday. They came on Tuesday, hooray! They had absolutely NO idea what they doing with our landscaping, which gave me that warm, fuzzy feeling of comfort. My husband told them they're sodding the back yard, and stones in the front with some flower/boulder decorations. They rototilled the back yard, front yard, pulled SOME of the weeds, laid the tarp, threw the rock, and left. Does that sound like everything I had appraised? No, it was not. They did not put my boulder/flower decorations by the door. They did not sod. Called the nursery, told them what the workers did and what they did not do. I was told "we are busy, we're getting the sod, we'll fit you in when we fit you in". I could not believe it. I was never treated like this before in my entire life, let alone such a "reputable" business. I was LIVID at this point. I have a dog who wants to play in grass, yet I have a muddy, dirty, rototilled back yard... With paw prints on my floor. Made of mud. Everything a woman could dream of. Now, the rain comes. Still lovin' that back yard, might I add. Finally get ahold of Mike after about three more phone calls. I was told, "we're waiting on sod. The rain has stopped them from cutting it and I am one of many". Totally understandable, however, when I called to have my sod taken care of last week, there was NO rain. Honestly, I don't know what to believe. We were planning on spending over $3,000 to have our landscaping completed but clearly he does not want it. Extremely unprofessional, response time and punctuality is TERRIBLE. I wish I would have went through a different landscaper to avoid this entire mess. Now, to end this Nobel Peace Prize review, I have called Guthals Nursery and spoke to whom I believe to be the owner and was more than pleasant to speak with. She took my information and said that her and her team takes care of every customer and that she'll get my yard taken care of as quickly as possible. She was completely honest with me in telling me that they are in their busiest time of the year and that it might take a few weeks, but at least she told me the TRUTH. And for that, I can wait.
