I hired Wagner Mechanical in July 2024 to install a new furnace/AC/heat pump and whole house humidifier. I went with Wagner after getting several estimates, and although they were more expensive than some others, they had done good work for a previous installation. For the work in 2024, I was expecting the same level of competence, care, follow-up, and attention to detail that I received from Wagner several years ago. However, the current experience significantly failed to meet all my expectations and has been, to say the least, extremely frustrating, time consuming, and in the end very expensive. When installing the humidifier, I asked Wagner to provide a technician who was familiar with humidifier installations. My sales person stated that “it was assigned to an installer who has done those jobs before.” I then asked the dispatch person to confirm this and she also said that the installer was familiar with humidifiers. When the installer arrived, it was clear that he was not familiar with these systems, and demonstrated this by making several mistakes in the installation (steam injection tube placement wrong, humidity sensor location wrong, outside temperature sensor placed next to furnace inside garage, wiring errors). When he was done, he was unable to get the humidifier to work, but still left the job and instructed me to test it when I switched over to heat. I called Wagner, explained the situation, and they said they would send another experienced technician out. The next technician came out, stated that he was unfamiliar with these systems, said he had to do some research, and left. I again called Wagner, explained the situation and also sent an email to the Assistant GM who had originally told me that “we have installed a lot of these”. Wagner sent out a third technician, who made a couple changes (moved humidity sensor and outside temperature sensor), but then also could not get the humidifier to work. So then he told me that he had to do some research, would get back to me, and promised that Wagner would not leave me hanging. I never heard back from the technician and Wagner never fixed the humidifier I paid them to install. To repeat, I never heard back from Wagner, despite my email and phone call attempts to contact the installation manager and assistant GM, to correct the humidifier installation. After the three failed attempts by Wagner, I ended up hiring another contractor to come out, diagnose multiple issues with Wagner’s installation, correct the installation, and get the system working correctly. Needless to say, I obviously had to pay this other company to do this work. Additional issues for my system that were never addressed by Wagner - 1) The system reports 31-11 and 31-58 errors from the heat pump (appears system was not tested after installation) 2) Air flow must have not been tested after installation as there appears to be some sort of restriction in the ducts - the system constantly reports excessive static pressure warnings, which I have also measured with and without filters installed 3) Condensation is now leaking from exhaust vent - the exhaust vent connections are loose and were not installed correctly The technicians and customer support staff were respectful and courteous throughout the process, but failed to follow through and complete the work correctly. I paid Wagner an exorbitant amount for this job and never got my issues resolved. Furthermore, throughout the process management never demonstrated any interest or commitment to do the job right and follow through. Unfortunately, at this point, I will never recommend Wagner.

We bought an AC unit from Wagner NM 4 months ago and they have already had to come back twice to fix it: 1st time: electrical issue, the installers forgot to attach a piece of wiring, so the unit shut down 2 days after installation. 2nd time: a unit leak, they said that the soonest they could come fix it was a week out. So much for being a loyalty program member with 24 hour support. Super disappointing for having a brand new unit that was so recently installed. Don’t buy from them. I’d give no stars if I could.

We needed to have a water heater flush and inspection and an inspection for our air conditioning system before summer starts. Wagner installed our HVAC system in 2011 and a new water heater in 2013 and we have used Wagner for maintenance of our systems ever since. For our latest service Victor Valles did our HVAC inspection and James Shook did our water heater flush and inspection. As usual both Victor and James were thorough, knowledgeable, and professional.

First, I haven't ever written a review, let alone a bad review, for a company on Facebook, Google or anywhere for that matter. I tend to let these things slide but today I have been hit with a major customer service failure and I am too **** hot to let it go. I made an appointment on Monday to have our two Swamp Coolers serviced and turned on. The appointment was made with Wagner Mechanical of Albuquerque, New Mexico, located at 7900 Jacs Ln, Albuquerque, NM 87113. Our house had been at 88 degrees for a week due to very hot weather. They gave me an appointment for today, Friday June 18th. I was told the service technician would be available at some point during the day but they could not guarantee a time until Friday. Friday came and they give me a time of "after 2:30 pm" Friday afternoon. 2:00 pm comes and they tell me it will be after 4:00 pm Friday afternoon. At a little after 5:30 pm Friday evening, the technician arrives and goes up on the roof and tells us that he can't do the work until Monday or Tuesday of next week because it is too late to get the parts he needs. He actually had the gall to tell us that "I don't know why they sent me here in the first place being as late as it is." I had personally told Wagner Mechanical, upon scheduling the appointment on the previous Monday, that both of the Swamp Coolers needed new belts and pads. I received a quote for the work and agreed to it. Somehow none of this information was given to the technician before he arrived and because we were pushed to the end of the day there was nothing he could do but leave us to our 88 degree home, after waiting five days for this appointment slot. Now we are expected to go through the weekend and into next week without the service that we were quoted and scheduled. Well, too bad Wagner, I have booked another company to come tomorrow and do what you couldn't. I will pay the extra money to have a technician from a different company come on a Saturday and do the work you put off all day Friday and then walked out on without so much as a "Sorry." WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMPANY PERFORMANCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED WITH A SERVICE TECHNICIAN COMPANY FOR ACCOUNTABILITY, SCHEDULING AND FOLLOW THROUGH. What a waste! I wouldn't trust Wagner Mechanical of Albuquerque with turning on a faucet at this point. We were merely an after-thought at the end of the day and for that I will not recommend this company for any work to anyone, friend or stranger.

Repaired furnace, but did not try to figure out what was wrong with it before starting work. Just looked at it and recommended we replace parts (again, without any diagnostics). Gave us options to replace lots of parts, replace lots more parts, or replace furnace. After performing work, furnace shut down and nobody was available to respond - evening answering service only. In addition, there was a breakdown in communications with answering service so nobody called us the next day after a cold night. Lots of problems with this company. On the plus side, our furnace IS working much better than it has in several years.

Ryan R. from Wagner Mechanical did a great job for me, taking care of my latest requirement for garage door opener outlets plus a couple of light fixture installations that had been pending projects of mine for some time. Ryan and the support team from Wagner were very knowledgeable, identifying a problem with an outdated breaker box that I have installed that could have kept me from getting the new outlets properly installed. They figured out an alternative solution using a more recent breaker box that we have, which gave me some breathing room in terms of having to get the old box updated. After the survey, we scheduled the installation of the new outlets and my light fixtures within a week. Ryan was always punctual and professional, working with me on the final placement of the outlets and routing of the electrical cable to my satisfaction. I discovered that they did electrical work about a year ago when they did another small job for me that I was very pleased with. I was equally pleased with their work this time. I think that Wagner is principally an HVAC company, but they have their own electricians on staff that are available to do solely electrical work (correct me if I'm wrong). They are not the least expensive electrical contractors out there, but you get what you pay for and I think that Wagner gives you a lot when you employ them for your electrical work.

Very disappointed and disgusted with my experiences with Wagner Mechanical. Beginning in 2016 with the purchase of an older house, I called Wagner out to service the existing swamp cooler. They indicated the unit was shot, and were quick to suggest a "comfort specialist" come out to discuss options for replacement. The individual who came out was slimy and had a used-car salesman vibe. I asked about a variety of options, but he was quick to shoot down ductless mini splits and AC without even giving me a quote, indicating these would be "over 25,000" all told (turns out, after getting bids from 5 other HVAC outfits, that minisplits are more in the 12k range for my 1350 sq ft house, by the way), and only seemed interested in selling me on a Breezair evaporative cooler. I agreed, despite the 5500$ price tag, with the agreement that Wagner would replace some of the ductwork in the downdraft. When Wagner showed up to install, they indicated there would be an additional, significant charge to replace this ductwork. We ended up working out a discount when I argued that it was supposed to be included in the quote, but it took getting a service manager out to explain the issues and the promises that the salesperson had made, and still added several hundred dollars to the estimate. In fairness, the install crew were very respectful and professional. Curtis S. was a gentleman, and if you do decide to go with Wagner, see if he can come out for any install. Over the course of the next 2 years (2016 to current season), I had no less than 6 separate issues with the swamp cooler. The amp draw on the motor was always causing problems as it was not drawing proper power, resulting in the fan speeds not changing (Breezairs have numerous different gradations of speed when they're functioning properly), and finally, in the 2018 season, the unit began to shut itself off randomly. Every time the swamp cooler was started up after the cold season, it would have these same issues. One time I had to have the technicians out twice in the same day. The service manager himself finally came out and replaced the motor, and it was still having all of the same issues thereafter. In the most recent startup, it was discovered that my hose bib had sprung a leak. The tech that came out at that time to perform the service grabbed an iPad and dialed up a quote for replacement: MORE THAN 450 DOLLARS, just to replace a simple hose bib. My father in law and I replaced the piece for $4.99 from Samons and the cost of some teflon tape, all in about 3 minutes. Exasperated, I called up to speak with a manager, as I was at the point of either having them take the unit and refund me, or I was ready to involve a lawyer for breach of contract. The manager I ended up speaking with, Gary, came out with a Seeley (brand) representative. They made a lot of promises that turned out to be completely hollow: the Seeley representative stated he would extend the warranty by 3 years, Gary gave me verbal commitments (always get this in writing with these guys, on the spot, by the way) that he would, at no cost to me, hardwire the unit (he stated the remote was causing the issues), remove and replace the unit when I went to reroof, and add in the service contract that the reps would adjust the belt/fan speed/amp issue with startups. When I tried to contact him to get written commitments on all these items, the only thing he addressed was the hard-wiring of the unit. Did not respond to requests for the written commitments at all. Long story short: RUN, don't walk away from this outfit. Hollow promises, condescension and a battle for any warranty service is all you're in store for. I'm so eager to wash my hands of this nightmare of a company. Learn from my mistake: get multiple bids and look for a company with previous customers that will attest to their integrity.

Wagner was more expensive than bids from other contractors, and the estimated completion time was significantly longer. However, the service and products were worth every penny. I also do not believe the other contractors could have done the fine work that Wagner did in any less time. I chose Wagner because the sales person spent a long time evaluating our needs; looked at our current furnaces; checked the layout in each room, measured the vents, and even consulted the technicians. He pointed out potentially defective components of our electrical system - which we confirmed by searching the internet. The other estimators never left the couch and were gone in much less than an hour. The installation of the new system and panel upgrade went without a hitch. Every technician was prompt & courteous; paid attention to the smallest details; explained what they were doing; were neat & tidy; and made sure that we understood how the new system worked. They also knew the city codes in detail, coordinated their activities with the utility company, and arranged the inspections. Needless to say, the system works perfectly. Although they didn't know who the contractor was, even the city inspectors were complimentary about the work that was done.

All went well. Sean inspected our boiler and made the required repairs within about 30 min. After performing a thorough inspection, Sean recomended replacement of the boiler and associated components due to the age of the system (20 years, daily use). We have used Wagner for several years and have always been pleased with the quality of their work and the ability of their technicians.

Chatted online and requested Central A/C install appointment for free estimate. Told someone would call me back and no one ever did. I was willing to give them the choice to get thousands of dollars from me but they could not even get back to me to set up an appt. Imagine if I had a problem with my Central A/C and needed help? Real nice website and chat service but zero follow-up means this is a company I don't want to do business with.

I recently spoke to Scott, the manager of Wagner Mechanical regarding the unfavorable review I gave them on Angie's List. He listened to my concerns and promised to rectify the service response regarding any future warranty problems should there be any. He also reassured me that this was a glitch between the service and the warranty department which he would rectify immediately. I would recommend them without any hesitation because they were very good at solving my problem and being responsive to my frustration.
