If I could put a thousand minuses after the F I would. IT WAS THE WORSE experience the past weekend. We took out dog in to be looked at. We got there at 3 pm and by the time we got back it was closer to 4 the time... the time the hospital closes. "Dr". Brown, if you could call her that, came in and was the most unprofessional, unemotional vet I have EVER been around. She looked into my dogs ears and at her gums and diagnosed her with a condition and stated if my dog did not get a blood transfusion she would die. She stated I HAVE TO go to a particular vet emergency room because they do not do that procedure there. She did not listen to my dog's heart, lungs or did any further examination. She did blood work and stated that it would take 45 minutes for the result. Approximately 10 minutes later she came back with one result and stated if my dog did not get a blood transfusion she would die and I had to go directly there. My son asked the prognosis and she looked at him and said "don't worry she will be dead within a year, if that". I asked if we could try anything else since she quoted the procedure would cost $2500 to $3500. She stated "no this is the only thing that could be done". She also stated she did not talk to the doctor at the other hospital but the receptionist and the receptionist agreed with the diagnosis this "vet" gave my dog. We went to the hospital, which she stated was an "emergency" and after 10 minutes watching the "receptionist" sweep in the waiting area, she got out information and had us sit and wait some more.... and after a long wait we decided take my dog home and push liquids and take her to our vet on Monday. By Sunday afternoon our dog was getting more energy and was doing better. By the time we took her to our vet, on Monday, she was doing a lot better, mind you no blood transfusion. When talking to our vet, she stated there were other procedures that could have been done before a blood transfusion and the diagnosis this so called vet gave my dog was not correct. My son asked, "Dr" Brown if we could try anything else and she stated "no, she has to have a blood transfusion or she will die". Also, this vet stated my dog had a heart murmur and NEVER LISTENED TO HER HEART....never took out a stethoscope at ALL... My vet listened to my dog's heart, twice and guess what....NO HEART MURMUR!!!! I lost hours of work, sleep and my son's and my own emotional state was a wreck after experiencing this "vet". If I went through with what she was telling me to do, I may have had my dog put down due to the extreme cost or she may have died from the procedure itself!!! THANK GOD I listened to my inner voice and left. God only knows how many people she has done this to, how many dogs have died because of this person. I am not stopping with this review. Just in case she is reading this, my dog is doing SO MUCH BETTER with the medicine she was given by our vet, who really cares for her patients and their owners. I will be pursuing much more because the fact that my dog could be dead, right now, because of her is ridiculous and she should not be practicing!!! Her bed side manner is horrible, she is not passionate about her patients or her owners... I do know she is passionate for making sure she leaves her work on time and not have to stay to late!!! I will sure my story is heard over and over again because this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!

They are pretty good. They are expensive. The vet was pretty efficient. I have been referred to another veterinarian hospital and I think that is where I will be going next. I understand that they are not as expensive as VCA is. The wait time is not very long at all. From the time we call them, they allow us to come right in. They are okay in interacting with her. They are convenient. They were the only show in town, until I found out that there is an animal hospital that is a little bit further out than them, but they are in the same zip code. There is a chance that I may like them better. The next time we go, we are going to go to the animal hospital.

We took our new puppy for his first checkup.  We had an appointment, but still had to wait approximately 15 minutes (15 hours in puppy standard time).  The staff seemed friendly enough.  We have a friend that recommended them so we were comfortable.  We were asked to bring in a fresh stool sample.  Which we did.  The vet called a few days later and said that the pup had giardia, a common parasite.  We started him on the medications immediately.

We returned with another fresh stool sample a couple of weeks after finishing the course.  A few days later, we received a voicemail from the vet stating once again that the puppy tested positive for giardia.  I actually thought that the voicemail had somehow recycled.  It was identical to the first call.

I returned the call to speak with the vet.  She once again said that he had tested positive.  I asked how that can be after we just finished treating him and had taken every precaution including no dog parks, sterilizing his toys and food bowls every night, etc.  She seemed thrown.  She asked to place me on hold.  When she returned, she explained that the test can show positive for up to 1 year after.  She claimed to have reviewed the results again and stated that the puppy did not show any live organisms.  I told her that since starting him on the two medications, he had loose stools most of the time.  Her suggestion was that we try a probiotic.  If not better in two weeks, call back.

The pup's stool is still really soft.  I called VCA again.  The vet was not in so they committed to have the vet on duty call within the hour.  I received a call a few minutes later from a

My veterinarians are fantastic. They have really quality people. I've been seeing them for about five years. They have some turnover. I would recommend Dr. Caffey to anybody, for any animal. He's a wealth of knowledge and very encyclopedic. He'll go through everything, every detail. I had a problem with my dog and they addressed the problem very well. I felt what I paid was worth it, because I was concerned and didn't know what was going on with my dog. They're okay. They're great with animals. They love them and they really take care of them.

We called on a Saturday morning. They got us in immediately. The staff and doctors were friendly, efficient, compassionate, professional and knowledgeable. The doctor spent a great deal of time with us explaining the diagnosis, treatment options and care needed to heal our pet. The doctor made a follow-up call later in he week to see how things were progressing.

Dr. Caffey is very competent technically--excellent surgeon and good at analyzing lab work and diseases but he needs to work on people skills. He talks loudly and a lot, mostly about lab results and other numbers, but he doesn't seem to grasp the emotional issues surrounding the animals' treatment. My friend and I had to ask for some time alone with my dog so I could say goodbye to her in peace and quiet. I used to see Dr. Rita Lawler at this clinic, but she has moved to another state. When she left, in my opinion the office lost its heart and soul. I will be looking for another vet clinic for my new puppy.

The staff at VCA are very professional. I hardly had to wait before we went back to the examination room Sally has had a sinus infection before and the vet was concerned that she may have an obstruction or possibly an allergy. After giving her the antibiotics and now the allergy pills, her symptoms went away. She no longer is taking the antibiotics, but still taking the allergy pills and has been healthy.

The team at VCA West Animal Hospital were fantanstic with Max. When ever we have a problem or need a place to board Max they have been very professional, gentle and show unconditional care towards all the pets I have ever seen in the office. The Drs treat the pets with the care and love that the owners themselves would treat their pets.

Our Wheaten had an infection in one of his eyes, the problem was quickly analyzed. He received eye drops and within a few days the problem had cleared.

My dog was very sick and I brought it to this large VCA vet clinic. They described the likely tests they would preform which included "an X-ray." When I asked what the bill would be the vet told me "probably several hundred dollars." When I came to pick up my dog that afternoon they presented me with a bill of almost $1,000 which included several X-rays which were expensive, redundant, and unnecessary. When I complained they blew me off and were quite rude.

I had a bit of a wait when I got there, but considering that we were walk-ins I have no complaints. They did a good job, were friendly etc. and best of all, were open on Sunday. I'll use them again.

I've always been impressed at how much time the veterinarians at VCA spend listening to me, examining my dog, and explaining options. My dog has seen Dr.'s Caffey, Lawler and Eide. I recommend them all as kind and caring practitioners. Veterinary care is always expensive. What sets VCA WestMesa apart from others is the consistent quality care you receive for the price.

The facility was very clean, but the girls behind the counter were not very helpful. I have two jack russels and there were several other dogs there as well. It was difficult to keep both of my dogs calm and fill out paperwork. I asked for help and the girl behind the counter just looked at me. Another customer offered to hold the leash of my smallest dog while I filled out the form. It was a decent experience, but could have been much better if one of the 3 girls would have offered to help with my dog for 2 minutes.
