Our home sustained considerable water damage from a broken waterline in the kitchen. Although this contractor was not on Angie's List, they were recommended to us by SERVPRO of NE Albuquerque to do the repairs. They did a good job of installing the ceramic tile; but they chose the cheapest tile that they could find and planned to do the same with the carpet until we stopped them. HOWEVER, when the foreman saw me watching him tearing off a piece of duct tape to hand to his worker to tape the electrical wire connection of the ceiling light, he quickly put the duct tape aside and pulled a wire nut out of his pocket and handed it to the worker. After witnessing that slight of hand we became suspicious of the rest of the repairs. We were charged for installation of insulation in the repaired walls and ceilings. When I cut small holes into the sheet rock on the walls and ceilings, they had installed NO insulation while assuring us that it was within the now sealed up walls. The newly installed sheet rock was also contracted to be floated, taped, textured, primed and painted. The texture job was well done, no seems showing, but the sheet rock was thinner than contracted and the "prime" and paint, if any, were mixed into the textue to cover the walls & ceiling in one process instead of actually painting the rooms after texture. The molding that they replaced was our own molding stored in our garage for another job, although we were being charged for new molding. The corner joints of the molding were very shoddy and did not meet in the corners; even leaving 1/2 to 3/4 inch gaps and in some cases the gaps were filled with a 'contrasting' color putty. The molding around the back door was left off alltogether and when asked about it, they 'found' some molding to replace what they left off which fell off shortly after they left the premisis. The reinstalled window frames were crooked, protruding from the walls enough to put your hand between the window frame and the wall to which it should have been attached, and the molding framing the window did not even meet but had gaps of at least 1/2 inch between them. The stain on the replaced molding did not even come close to matching any of the other molding in the house that did not need to be replaced. We finally had to fire them to prevent any further damage. We are now left with an exhaust pipe that was removed from a wall and never replaced before sealing up the walls. The kitchen cabinets were left with a 3/4 inch shim causing a bulge between the counter top and cabinets beneath because the only appliance that they installed ceramic tile under could no longer fit under the counter top. We had to hire a real contractor - found on Angie's List - to fix the damages from this group of shoddy workmen. If you value your home, don't let these people anywhere near it! And, no matter who might recommend someone to you, check with Angie's list first!!
Description of Work: Installation of ceramic tile on kitchen floor and floor downstairs below the kitchen.
