Lamp was repaired within the week -- professional!

One lamp great. For the other, an antique, it was not possible to put on a new cord due to a prior fusing within the lamp which made it impossible to change. The shop tried and explained the problem to me very clearly. Very professional/friendly.

It works and better than ever. It's part of a pair, which I've had for decades and like very much. I'm very glad I found this place and don't have to replace these lamps. (BTW, the cost was higher than normal because they had to rewire the lamp, so it's like I now have a brand new one, at least as far as the internal wiring goes.)

Disassembled ceiling lamp myself after all five bulbs burned out within a few days of each other, and brought the bulb and socket assembly in to see if it could be repaired.  Charlotte accepted the assembly, and promised repair in two weeks.  Ten days later, she called us to pick up the work.  The bulb and socket assembly was completely repaired with new sockets and new wiring, and Charlotte also recommended 60 watt bulbs and sold those to me as well.  Brought the assembly home, installed it, and it worked perfectly on the first throw of the switch.

I got the lamps back in wonderful condition; they oiled them so they looked better than when I'd brought them in, and they also did a great job of matching the new hardware/cording to the fixtures so it looks original.
Extremely polite and professional service, reasonable prices, and they gave me a pretty good estimate in terms of ballpark cost and the time it was going to take.

Excellent service and low cost

Arrived in the early afternoon with a fairly cheap table lamp and a shade bought elsewhere. We needed a suitable harp and finial. Uptown's Charlotte found a nice looking harp and finial, and saw that we had a non-standard saddle. She offered to disassemble the lamp while we waited and install a new saddle. Upon disassembly, the socket showed considerable evidence of charring and blackening, suggesting it was near the end of its service life. Charlotte installed a new socket in addition to the saddle, mounted the harp and finial, and did it all while we waited.

Excellent in every way. First, they got it done in less than 2 days. It's entirely rewired and safe now, and they chose cord that complemented the lamp. They also gave me advice about how to care for this kind of antique lamp. It looks fantastic, and the customer service was superb. Mary Jane is just an artisan. She's so good at what she does and so friendly, as are everyone else there. I was thrilled.

We have used them two or three times and we were very pleased with the services they performed. Their work was timely and professionally done. They provided us with some good suggestions, because we were trying to match the lampshades to the lamp and things like that, so we had a good feedback from them.

We dropped the lamp off on one Saturday and picked it up on the next Saturday. The two replacement sockets were a match to the two worn out sockets. We enjoy supporting a local business and recomment Uptown Lamp and Shades for lamp repair.

The pricing is very reasonable. She is a very nice lady. She does good work and is very prompt. The business is located close to my house which make it very accessible.
