Went to Home Depot because the salesman there said I could buy in-stock laminate flooring and have installation done within a week or two. I waited over two months after purchasing and paying in advance for the service. After measuring for the bid, I was told I would receive the bid within 24 hours. After 3 days I finally called them. They said they were waiting on the bid from the contractor to do my stairway. Two days later I received the bid and agreed to it (almost $6,000). I was told I would hear from the installer within 24 hours. After 2 days I finally called them. They informed me that my installation would be at least a month out..... this after all the flooring was piled up in my house, the carpets removed and I am living on concrete. Three days before installation, I called the installer to make sure I was on schedule for Monday. They said I would receive an email on Friday. I never did. Monday morning the contractor shows up and tells me that they can't install the stairwell and lots of extras needed to be done. In other words, over $1,200 in and quot;extrasand quot;. The contractor said he never saw a photo of the stairs until that morning. I went to Home Depot and met with three managers. No resolution so I cancelled the whole deal.
Absolutely horrible service, lots of lies and finger pointing. There are two outside entities who sub to Home Depot and both of these entities are terrible. I had heard they would try to gouge you for more money and indeed they did.
Buy your flooring at Home Depot if you wish. Some of their products are fine. BEWARE of their installers.
I finally found my own flooring contractor (from Angies List), who came the next week and did a professional installation at about half the cost of Home Depot. And no and quot;extrasand quot; were needed.
We got emails from the cabinet maker and was kept updated on the timeline of the cabinets. They shipped to our home at
the estimated date.Home Depot followed up with me several times to check up on their subcontractor and be sure that we were happy with the job.
I have also had the Home Depot sell and install ceramic tile floors in my house and it turned out great, very affordable, no surprise charges above the estimate.
It looks great. I got several quotes and they were the least expensive.
I went to the flooring section and described what I wanted and the flooring sales person, Shannon was very helpful and patient as I made my final choices. This took three or four visits and she never tried to steer me towards any other product and was well informed on the choices I finally settled on. She explained how the process would occur and how long material delivery and matters would take.
The work took about two weeks to schedule and of course Home Depot subs out the actual work.
Measure Comp came out and did all the measurement estimates, they were very thorough and made sure I was with them every step of the way and agreed with each item of information.
Home Solutions performed both the tile and carpet install.
The tile install also included the removal and replacement of the baseboards. They do not recondition or paint or repair the baseboards so be prepared for that work yourself.
The tile install took 5 complete days, from 9 AM- 5 PM, some days 6 PM. The installers (2) were always on time and prepared and very professional. They picked up the tile and other materials from Home Depot.
I have pets and they were always careful to know where they were and did not leave the doors open any longer than needed. That contributed greatly to my peace of mind.
The end result was nothing short of amazing. The attention to detail and pride in their work was obvious in every way.
The carpet install was around two weeks later and again, the install crew (3) were on time, prepared and professional. I could not believe it but they completed the entire job in one day. This included removing the old carpet from four rooms.
The completed job looked fantastic and they also removed any sign they had been at my house except a vast improvement in the look of the area and my state of mine. They even offered to help me take some furniture back upstairs but I already had that taken care of.
I also had three toilets replaced while the tile work was going on. Home Depot used NM Delta Mechanical for the removal and install and the guys who did that were as professional and prepared as everyone else.
Overall I am extremely pleased with the work that was done as well as the quality of the product.
Everyone involved seemed to make my satisfaction a priority and kept me informed every step of the way.
If I didn't have that chunk of money out of my pocket I would have thought I was on one of those home improvement TV shows.
It was well worth it and I would recommend Home Depot to everyone and would use them again if I am ever crazy enough to do all that at one time again.
