This is an incredible family owned and operated business. Their roofing product and solution set is top notch, and for a flat roof, there really is no other care-free option. They are extremely professional, clean, efficient and they care beyond belief. They go out of there way to protect you, your house and everything in the immediate area. They are friendly and easy to work with, and just a great group of people. I had them replace a roof on a house that I sold, and immediately asked them to help out on a new purchase. I have experience with structured foam and spray foam applications, and for our New Mexico location and climate, this is the very best solution for your roof. I am quite happy and satisfied, and you will be as well.

Mike, came recommended by our home inspector when we purchased it. I'm not sure why because in hindsight I have discovered we received subpar work and very poor follow up and customer service. Mike came out and foamed the roof as promised, but in the process drilled a dozen or so whole through the ceiling with huge screws. He made like it wasn't a big deal, but to me and my wife it was. Especially with a tongue and groove ceiling with beautiful wood beams. I was promised a receipt and form to give PNM to get a rebate for doing the foam and saving energy. Mike never produced this after several attempts to get it. About a year after the work was done I called because there was a small leak in the bedroom and Mike never returned my calls and never tried to do any follow up service or maintenance. I would think for a customer that spent over 30K (that's right!!! can you believe that?) that I would get better customer service and some kind of customer appreciation. Now it's a little over 2 years later and decided to some renovation in my master bedroom and am finding out from my contractor that the whole roof and half the beams need to be taken out due to water damage. Needless to say, my family is very disappointed in Mike and his so called company. There is no exaggeration here. This is our experience with Techwest and Mike Borders. Needless to say he will be hearing from myself and others associated with my renovation and possible lawsuit over this.

First job went great - high quality, long lasting, and good communication. However, they do not seem to value small residential jobs anymore, as trying to bring them back for another job felt like a cat and mouse experience. They kept promising to schedule us, but weeks went by until winter weather prevented this kind of work.

Mike Borders and TECHWEST have been in business in the Albuquerque area for many years. It's a family operation and came highly recommended in our area by satisfied customers. I contacted a number of roofers with different approaches before I talked to TECHWEST. Mike was clear and thorough in his explanation of process and product, and very good to deal with. His price was very competitive and includes a 10-year warranty as well as a yearly inspection. He kept me informed of his team's availability and weather conditions that affected start date and completion. His crew was courteous and efficient. He coordinated with our solar company to remove and reinstall solar equipment after reroofing. All in all it was a good experience from start to finish.

This is a followup to my original review:
Well it's over 4 years later and all is well. Mike comes out once a year or so to inspect my roof for damage. Now that is how to honor a warranty!
I'm enjoying lower gas bills and cooler summers and warmer winters inside my house. No worries of leaking or water pooling. I couldn't be happier with the product.
I wish every contractor operated like Mike Borders. Life would have much less grief and doubt.

It all went well from start to finish.

2012: Mike told us he could not do the roof until the end of July or beginning of August. We then got a call the second week in July saying he got a break in the schedule and would we like it done sooner, we jumped at the chance. I was in the process of getting an air conditioner replaced on the roof and had to make sure all of the men involved were coordinated with each other and knew what each other were doing.
There was a plumber involved installing the air conditioner, an electrician putting in new wiring for a thermostat and fixing a rusted connection on the roof, and Mike doing the roofing. Mike called both the electrician and the plumber and they all talked about what each of them needed and how they would coordinate the work being done and the schedule. Everything worked out pretty well!
My daughter rents to a lady in her 90s who needs the air conditioner on for her well being. Mike had to turn the air conditioner off for 24 hrs as it was leaking but used only the fuse for the air conditioner so they had electricity all day. I had thought they would be without electricity in the home for 24 hrs so they were going to go somewhere for the day. Since he used only one fuse, they were able to stay home and use a portable cooler until the next day. The installation went off without a hitch. The renters told me and quot;Boy, they're working all the time, no one just stands around and does nothingand quot;. Mike also recycles rock so he asked if we would like to have the rock to use on the side of the house and we said yes. The renters thought he was just going to dump it and they would have to spread it but his crew spread it nicely and even used an old wooden arbor that was on the side of the house in her garden for the tomatoes. If I ever need another roof (I could move), I will always use Mike.

They deal with urethan roofing. It is a urethan foam with a skin on top. They worked closely with my self and the heating and ac guys in order to provide a fairly complex solution to roofing problems. His services were expensive but were A quality.

He is professional and reasonable with his prices. I have recommended him to my daughter and she is now going to use him for her roof.

The entire experience was outstanding. I only think good thoughts about my roof now. Thoughts like "look how well the water drains now" and "wow, our heating bill for January is lower than it has ever been" and "the house never goes over 80 degrees without the swamp cooler".

The work was done in two sessions because the foam can't be sprayed if it's too cold. The owner worked along with his employees. They showed up as scheduled, and were careful of the plants in the yard when sitting up hoses and ladders.

Great job. Mike was timely and professional. The work started as scheduled and proceeded without any delays. Mike led the team that installed the roof. He was able to build the foam up to improve drainage on our flat roof. Cleanup at the end of the job was immaculate. A couple months after we reroofed, there was an epic hailstorm in this part of Albuquerque, and the large hailstones tore up the coating on our new roof. Insurance paid for TechWest to reapply the coating. So that's a disadvantage of the foam: less damage tolerance than traditional tar and gravel. However, the white, insulating foam keeps our house noticeably cooler during the summer. We've had the roof on for five years no with no problems or any apparent deterioration.

They did a great job! I would highly recommend them!
