Horrible! All they did was attempt to clean and shave the bites and claw marks (which I had already done prior to bringing her in) and didn't even catch them all, I pointed out more that they had missed. They had made a point to come out to the waiting room to tell me how much a pain shot was going to cost before they administered it, and then didn't even give her the shot!!. By the time she was returned to me in the waiting room, she was literally falling over from pain and shock! I expected to pay more for the emergency visit, but between doing absolutely nothing for her but making things worse and the over priced meds- it was over $400! NEVER AGAIN! This place is HORRIBLE! If you love your pet, find somewhere else to take them!!
Response from PETROGLYPH ANIMAL HOSPITAL
"I apologize that Mr. [Member Name Removed] had a bad experience at our clinic. It's our standard of care to ask permission to give pain medications in all cases of trauma - it is then up to the veterinarian whether administration of injectable pain medication is warranted for any given patient. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was not charged for pain medication that was then not given, and his dog was sent home with two types of oral pain medications. To clarify, of Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s bill that evening for $367.56, approximately $220 was for the care of the dog mentioned above, and the remaining charges were for treatment of the other dog involved in the altercation. Although some years have passed since this visit, the client is always welcome to call me at 898-8874 to resolve any outstanding issues ~ Pat Anderson, Practice Manager"

I like the work they have done, but they are a small veterinary hospital.

I had a situation with my 19 year old cat and they did their best. I am a former teacher and she would charge me $30.00 for a check up and did it numerous times instead of full price. I think they were average courteous and wasn't rude. It is a very busy practice with a lot of people coming in and waiting. One thing I can tell you for sure is my experience is that once you got into the examine room they didn't treat you like a number and that they cared about your animal. That is why I would recommend them as the whole experience was really really positive. I had an experience with a previous clinic that I had gone to for several years. The reason I stopped going to them was the front office staff was so abominable. They had about 10 to 12 people not like Petroglyph that has 2 receptionists that check you in. They were scurrying around like ants not knowing what they were doing, all young kids probably 18-22 years old and they didn't really care. Finally I said I had enough. The doctor was excellent but the front office was so bad. It was like you had to steal yourself to go in because  you knew it was going to be a negative experience.

My ferret was to have exploratory surgery. He was found to have an inoperable tumor, and had a poor prognosis. Unfortunately, I had to put my sweet Bandit to sleep. The staff was very kind and respectful during the entire process. The verinarians were knowledgable and kind. I will definitely take my other fuzzies here if they need medical care.

I have worked with Dr. Jeff D. Nichol for at least the last 3 years. When it was time to put Zoe down, Dr. Nichol came to the office special to help. |He sent me a red carnation for my loss. The results from the study showed very little plaque in the brain, with kidney failure being the problem. |Now he is taking care of my resuce from a kill shelter in Missouri with wonderful results! Her name is Angel, but we added Angel Joy, because that's what she is!

We are pretty pleased with the vet at Petroglyph Animal Hospital. We had a major issue lasts summer and we ended up at the other location, but the service was excellent. They removed a tumor. They were very helpful and understanding. They let us in with the dog before and after the surgery. They were just very caring. I would say their prices are average.

I had to make a hundred mile plus round trip to Petroglyph. I was not certain of the route and so left home allowing a half hour extra. When I arrived at the vet's, I was 25 minutes early. After an hour and a half past my appointment time, I was called to a exam room and left to wait even longer. The room was bitterly cold. Some construction was occurring on the other side of the back entrance to the room and that area was open to the outside. I was very worried abut my little bird being chilled - let alone myself.
When the vet put in his appearance, he went right to work and competently and professionally clipped my budgie's beak. He then did a brief exam. He did discuss at a leisurely pace changes to make in my bird's diet and cage arrangement. He sent - at my request - an antibiotic in case my budgie had a negative reaction to the stress.
I had to wait an inordinate time at the check-out desk, but that did give me time to register my displeasure at being kept waiting for so long to be seen. I was told they had overbooked. That is poor business practice in my opinion.
I will return to this vet at least once more as I do believe in second chances - but no more than a second chance.

My cat suddenly became "disabled" within about a weeks period and was unable to use his hind legs and was not looking good last Monday as he had not pooped in a few days and his meds did not seem to be working so my wife took him in for another examination and possible enema. I was told he should be put down and even though that morning he ate heartily, purred and rubbed on us like normal, and even managed to climb over a baby gate without showing signs of pain, they convinced me he was suffering extremely and I agreed to leave him there so I could come by after work to say goodbye with the family before they euthanized him. After showing up for our appointment, we waited in a cramped room for 25 minutes before they finally said they would bring him out shortly. I could hear him making a fuss in the back but when they finally brought him up a few minutes later he was completely comatose due to being sedated. When I asked why they sedated him they claimed he was bring aggressive. I simply can not fathom why they would not ask if we would like to retrieve him ourselves or see him in his cage as the point was to see him off, not to hold a limp cat that already looked dead. When she brought him out his head was flopping around and I felt there was not much respect for the situation at all. She then claimed she used a sedative that would wear off quickly so we held him and loved on him waiting for him to come too but he never did. She finally claimed another sedative that takes 10 minutes to kick in probably had done so and I realized I would not get to see him off like I had hoped. I really wish they had let us spend time with him in those 30 minutes we waited in their office and regret not having my wife take him home to be with the family that afternoon. I still can not understand why they would sedate him before letting us see him. The vet was very nice and well intentioned so I feel bad leaving this review but I do not want anybody else to experience this and I really hope this animal hospital works on training their vets in proper bed side manner in the future.

They're okay. There's never a long wait. Their doctors are very nice. Their office and staff are very nice. I like that their staff is friendly, that their doctors are knowledgeable, that some of the tests they can do there I would prefer to have more of the stuff done there instead of being referred to an emergency or special hospital. On the whole, they're okay. I'm new to the city. I'm grading them on my experience with Michigan veterinarians, which is where I'm from. They were the first vets I experienced, except for the emergency animal hospital, which is high. They were very responsive to me. They listened. I didn't ever wait very long to be serviced there. I'm getting a new puppy and thinking of going back to them.

I have taken my dogs to Petroglyph Animal Hospital for several years. Their staff, doctors and vet techs, are experienced, caring, and friendly. Every appointment or urgent-care visit has given me great confidence in their ability and the safety of my pets while in their care. They are thorough in the examination and when asking questions. They are informative and answer questions willingly and in an understandable manner. Sometimes (particularly weekends), I have had to wait quite a long time - even over an hour - to be seen for an appointment. However, every time that has happened, there has been a serious emergency case come in before us, so I understood. I would want them to prioritize my pet in a similar circumstance, and I have no doubt they would do so. Certainly, walk-ins should expect to wait for a minor or non-emergency visit, so make an appointment.

Response from PETROGLYPH ANIMAL HOSPITAL
"In response to the member's comment about his experience at our hospital, I would like to clarify what services are included in the price of our dental procedures. We recommend pre-surgical bloodwork on all our patients undergoing an anesthetic procedure, to determine organ function prior to surgery. We place an IV catheter in every patient and support them with IV fluids throughout, and sometimes before and following, a procedure. While under gas anesthesia, all patients are monitored via EKG, blood pressure and oxygen saturation (pulse oximeter) sensors. In the particular case of the member’s pet, the doctor felt the procedure might include several extractions, nerve block in the case of extractions, and a full-mouth digital dental radiograph to evaluate thoroughly the risk to his pet of any dental issues. Our quote also included IV antibiotics as well as antibiotics and pain medication to take home. I am gratified that the member rated us highly regarding our professionalism and quality. I hope my response clarifies for him and other consumers that our prices reflect our commitment to quality care for our clients’ pets."

It went very well. We were impressed with Dr. Hudgell who has performed this particular surgery many times [a cranial cruciate ligament repair]. We were confidant he could do a good job, and he did.

It was New Years when my dog became ill and they were right there for us. The hospital has constant care even on the weekend and is always staffed. They were in contact with me daily with progress reports and we couldn't be more pleased with them. They come highly recommended by me.
