Byron called me back on that Sunday and was immediately very responsive. He arranged to have Lamar, the licensed electrician, come out bright and early (0700) the next day. Lamar was prompt and punctual, and immediately got to work repairing the mast. They had already called PNM and the crew arrived to reconnect the wires shortly thereafter. There were TONS of fiascos and run-around with PNM and they jerked us all around all day, but Byron and Lamar remained responsive and handled the curve balls with patience and professionalism. They handled the bureaucratic nightmare that is PNM and city permit/waiver process and really went out of their way. All of this occurred while they were in the midst of a very time consuming project with a swiftly-approaching deadline, so it meant all the more to me that they seemed to care so much about getting the power restored to my house. Byron continued to follow up to check if PNM had completed their end of things. These guys are really rare in a sea of contractors who don't communicate. Do yourself a favor and consider them for any of the many projects they are capable of carrying out. I will keep them on speed dial as a homeowner!

We are thrilled with the job and with Paragon Construction.  Having built a couple of homes in the past, and having done other remodel jobs, we were cynical about contractors due to some of our previous experiences.  We now have new faith in the profession!  The owner, Byron Butcher, is pleasant, professional, courteous and extremely capable,  Due to the extensive work to be done (over a period of about 5 months) we did not live in the home while the work was being done, but did visit the site daily.  Mr. Butcher and his crew were there on time, usually worked 6 days a week, and to my amazement, cleaned the site at the end of each workday.  The whole team was pleasant and very professional.  Mr, Butcher was very responsive to owner input (and change requests), and if he had a suggestion (often things we hadn't considered), he was very polite in explaining his viewpoint -- we were very appreciative of his extensive knowledge about construction.  He obviously has many years of experience and was well versed or had experts working if there were speciality areas (tile work for example).  Perhaps one of the best bonuses of hiring Mr. Butcher is that he is a Master Carpenter.  As a result, all the things that were particularly important to us, like the finish of the house, were given a great deal of attention (such as setting cabinets and doors, making sure baseboard was trimmed perfectly, etc).  Additionally, he was very professional with his paperwork and bid process.  He required all his workers to carry workman's comp which we much appreciated.  If we ever want additional work done, we will call Paragon Construction to do the job.

We were extremely pleased with Paragon Construction.  Byron does very nice work and takes pride in what he does. He works hard to make sure every little detail is completed accurately.  We had a modern design utilizing alternative materials, and Byron worked very well with our architect to make sure the design was carried out as it was supposed to.   We were also happy with the subcontractors he hired--we found the work they did was also excellent quality.  There were a few misunderstandings about money and a few times he was late, but in the end it wasn't an issue.  His price was excellent for the quality we received, and we always recommend him if we know of someone building a home or addition.  Byron is an honest contractor and I would recommend him to anyone!

I was so impressed with Paragon!  They were punctual, professional, efficient, and listened closely to what I wanted and made it a reality.  I was also pleased with their communication with me leading up to and during the work.  Their craftsmanship is absolutely beautiful and their attention to detail impeccable.  I am so very happy with their finished product and will hire them again for any other work I need done.

1. I contacted Paragon and Byron was very nice and responsive. He meet with me and my husband and spent a long time discussing the details, taking pictures and measurements. In addition he made good suggestions of what could be done and how.
2. We received an estimate promptly and determined the the quote was fair for all the work to be done.
3. Due to Paragon's scheduling and some other work that got rescheduled we were lucky enough to have the work done within 2 weeks of the quote.
4. Byron and his crew were very professional while performing the work. While he was working the  job, he met with us almost every day to discuss details, findings, suggestions, etc.
5. They covered the area very well preventing dust and other items to be damaged. When we got home the area was clean enough that you were able to enjoy your house. I really appreciate that and I had never seen that from a contractor before.
6. When they finished, the area was clean and the job looked amazing. I was very impressed and satisfied with the worked performed.
7. I definitely recommend this contractor and I am going to use them again to renovate my kitchen and paint the house which is in process right now.

My husband and I wanted to tile our downstairs but the original cement floor had puncture wounds from carpet tacks and lenolium adhesive from the original flooring (20 years ago) by the first owner. So in order to have a completely smooth and residue free floor we decided to do a self-leveling cement. Self-leveling being the key words; it apparently didn't get the memo and did not level at all... It had more hills and valleys than the smoking mountains. So I contacted Byron, the next morning he came to take a look and instead of making me feel stupid, he assured me it was fixable. The next day he and his team came and hand sanded my entire downstairs. It took them all day and they did an superbly excellent job!!!! They lined my entire downstairs with plastic to protect my furniture and keep the dust from covering my home... And cleaned up everything just the way they found it. By the end of the day they were dog tired but my floor looked great and is now flat enough for me to tile. I could speak volumes about how happy I am and I can throw away all my other busy cards because all my contractor calls will be made to Byron and his brother!

"[Member Name Removed] is a great client to work for. She had a issue with a self-leveling product that was not allowing her to install tile. [Member Name Removed] contacted Paragon Construction through Angies List email and I was able to meet with her the following day. After my site visit I concluded that the best solution for the self-leveling issue was to grind down the bumps and fill in the dips. We agreed on the solution and my crew and I showed up on a Friday morning, prepped the area and started grinding and filling. After two 5 gal buckets of concrete dust a 40lb bag of concrete patch material and a hard days work, we ended up with a floor that [Member Name Removed] can now lay tile on. We also patched 2 holes in the drywall that same day. Great project great client! Thank you [Member Name Removed] and Angie's List!"

The two brothers that operate Paragon Construction are always professional, on time, and do a fabulous job.  In addition to doing my electrical work, they have also painted and done general construction at my house as sub contractors and it all was of excellent quality.  They always keep me informed about scheduling (what a nice change from others I have had do work for me) and complete the job on time.  And they stay in touch to make sure the job is to my satisfaction!  You cannot go wrong hiring Paragon Construction for any work you need done.

"Great experience with a previous client I met as a electrical subcontractor on a home remodel she did last summer. Her home did not have a main shut off breaker in the electrical panel and no room in the panel to add one. Due to a recent remodel her existing panel was now overloaded. We agreed that a electrical service upgrade was needed. Paragon contacted PNM and pulled a permit to upgrade the electrical service. Paragon installed the new breaker panel and meter can assembly and after passing the two required inspections, PNM came out and installed the new meter. Another successful electrical service upgrade. Thank you [member name removed]!"

We had Bryon/Paragon Construction change a window at the back of the house into a French door and add a small deck as well as French door to the Casita behind the house.

The work was done so well that we had him re-do the plumbing in the Casita and add a Bathroom. The bathroom addition included flooring, drywall, painting, trim carpentry, mill work, windows, stucco, electrical, plumbing, tile, decks, concrete, exterior lighting, counter tops, ceiling fans, and insulation. At each step there was attention to detail and we trusted that the work was done as we wanted. Many days I didn't even check on the progress because I knew the work would be done correctly. The final product does not disappoint!

Bryon is punctual, answers texts and emails quickly (which we really appreciated) and has a great work ethic.

Bryon Butcher/Paragon Construction did a great job. We originally had him change a back window to a French Door, add a small deck at the back of the house and change a window in the Casita to a French Door.  This work went so well that we had him add a full bathroom to the Casita.  This bathroom addition involved re-working the existing plumbing, install new flooring, drywall, painting, trim carpentry, mill work, windows, stucco, electrical, tile work in the bathtub area and on the floor, concrete work, counter tops, ceiling fans, and insulation.  At each step there was attention to detail and excellent quality of work.

Byron responded quickly to texts and emails which we really appreciated. We never had to ask what the status of the project was because he kept us informed at every step. The house is almost 80 years old and the work Paragon Construction did is in keeping with the overall look and style of the house.  Bryon and the crew cleaned up everyday after leaving.  We trusted the quality of the work and attention to detail so much that many days I did not even check on the progress of the bathroom because I knew it was being done right and would be what we wanted. I highly recommend Byron Butcher and Paragon Construction because of the work ethic, skill and attention to detail that we experienced during these two projects.

"This project was a wonderful experience. The homeowners were absolutely amazing to work with. After Paragon proved their high quality craftsmanship and trustworthiness, we were asked to provide a bid for additional work. I was actually sad when we finished because I enjoyed this project so much. Thank you so much."

Byron is absolutely outstanding.  He was punctual, meticulous in his work, he guaranteed all of his work, and is absolutely honest.  He cleaned up every day before leaving, and he closely supervised the work he did not do himself.  Example, the adobe around the base of our home was water damaged and needed to be removed and replaced.  Because it would have been difficult to perfectly match the color, we decided to make the new adobe a darker color, and we needed to have a border installed between the "new" and the existing.  The sub contractor he hired was excellent, but one section of the border was very slightly off of level.  I did not notice the defect, but Byron did.  He made the subcontractor remove and replace the entire section.  I strongly recommend Byron, and Urge you to hire him if you need and general contacting work.

Absolutely fantastic--the best contractor I have ever worked with by far.  Byron is punctual, reliable, and a perfectionist in every sense of the word.  He was always in touch and kept me advised of any issues or problems with the actual construction or delivery of supplies and so forth.  I never had to wonder what the status of the project was.  He was always ready, willing and able (and suggested) minor changes or inclusions which would add to the appearance or functionality of the project.  I would not hesitate to recommend him or to use him again--which I am already planning to do.
