Almost 2 years ago, I hired #1 Plumbing and Heating to run 220 power from my attached garage about 20 feet to my detached garage, and install a mini-split AC/heat pump unit in the detached garage. I paid them half the fee up front in mid May of 2022. Then a series of purposely set up delays occurred so that the electrical part of the project, which could have been finished in a week, didn’t finish until mid August. They delayed starting the project and when they did start, they kept delaying the electrician’s return and then kept taking him off the job for “emergencies.” Through out this project, when I called them, I was almost always told the electrical foreman was not in, and he always took at least 3 days to a week to get back to me, and sometimes he never got back to me. Around the end of June, they said that the electrical portion of the work was ready for inspection, but I was told they couldn’t get it inspected for 3 weeks. When the inspector arrived, I found out #1 P&H had lied to me, and that the inspector could have been there one day after receiving a request for inspection and, their work failed the inspection. The violations were so basic that it was obvious that they were done on purpose. It took me a week to finally get a hold of the electrical foreman and of course, they couldn’t schedule the appointment until 10 days later. When I had something come up and called to tell them I couldn’t be there that morning the dispatcher said in a very condescending voice“ohhh, well then, we won’t be able to come out for another week then.” The tone of his voice made it very clear he was messing with me and really enjoying it. The next time I called to talk to the foreman I was told he wasn’t in, and when I asked to have him call me, the dispatcher again took on a mocking tone and told me, “oh absolutely, you bet, I’m going to do that right now, in fact, I’ll just get up take it in there and put it on his desk right now.” I suspect that the foreman was right there listening. I then contacted the owner and told him what had transpired, and he was able to confirm everything I said was true. The electrician was out within a couple of days and finished the job, and they had the inspector there the that same day. The mini-split was installed a week later and they gave a small discount, for the trouble. I told the owner my plans in the future to replace my furnaces and add solar and he sounded very sincere when saying that he hoped I would give them a chance. Because of that, I held off on posting this review to see if they would give me a good deal. I recently called to talk to the owner about installing five mini-splits and solar. The woman who answered the phone said he was not in and asked what I was calling about. She said she could have someone out the following Monday and she would call me back in a few minutes to confirm. I never received a call back. When I called back, I was told the owner wasn’t available, and I never received the promised call back. I don’t know if the employees a #1 P&H or the owner that decided they didn’t want to do work for me but, I advise that, if you hire #1 P&H to do a project, complain to the owner if delays start occurring or you have trouble getting in touch with people.

Austin scoped my sewer pipes recently. He appears to be a scam artist. He orally represented on the spot that some pipes needed replacing, and orally quoted $4,000 to do the job. Then he came back a few minutes later and said that they could do it for $2,300. He said the front yard pipe needed replacing, even though this company replaced it two and a half years ago, They failed to provide a written evaluation report on the sewer pipes' condition, despite their agreement to do so. I had TLC Plumbing come out a couple weeks later to evaluate the pipes. They said the pipes noted by Number One were fine, and that only the pipe from the curb to the sewer main needed replacing.

I will not use this business in the future. They do not have the decency to call till after the arrival time that they are not coming. They did not come to fix the leak of my kitchen sink. I waited like idiot for two hours. My kitchen sink is leaking really bad and it is ruining my wooden floors in the kitchen. Very unprofessional. This plumbing company only thinks of themselves and not the customer’s time. A friend recommended this company.
Response from Number One Plumbing, A/C, Solar & Electric
"We have reached out to the customer multiple times and have apologized numerous times for our technicians mistake. We contacted her immediately upon learning of the situation and offered to take care of her needs immediately and at no cost. Unfortunately we were not given the opportunity to right our wrongs. We apologize publicly again for your experience. -David Kaminski"

Number One Plumbing, Dave, the owner, informed me that I could receive a rebate for installing a swamp cooler, which was very helpful of him and I did follow through with a good result. Both of these installations were complicated and the workmen were very professional and capable and they worked very hard. Dave, the owner, is highly competent and responsible. I wish all my dealings with tradesmen would be as excellent in analysis, installation, and outcome as my dealings with Number One Plumbing.

It was kind of expensive but it was very reasonable. It was a good quality furnace. They did very good. They are our regular plumbers. The price was good, very very good. They made a mistake but they came out and fixed it right away. Their responsiveness was excellent. They were here early. They're laid back but they're very good. If I can't do it myself, I will use them again.

Mr Kaminski, the owner, responded to my call very quickly.  The two (2) plumbers that provided the work were very efficient and completed the wprl especially on the house very timely.  There was a problem that occurred in the efficiency apartment with the thermostate to a wall heater that still has to be correct or replaced.  I expect them to contact me on this by tomorrow and correct the problem.  Number One Plumbing and Heating has and always will be b\my go to company in Albuquerque, NM not only for my personal plumbing needs, but in my real estate involvement and I have no problem in referring this company to other individuals I come across with.  They now do electrical work as well.

Two men arrived and went quickly to work, they were efficient.  When I told them an inspector told me the evaporative unit was missing insulation, one asked me what did I mean.  I was reporting only what I'd been told and the comment made me feel I'd said something stupid.  Since I'd never had an evaporative cooler and this was on the roof, I had no idea.

I used the company before and as usual find they are honest and forthright.  They'll be back after the furnace part is ordered.

I had interviewed several contractors and even a few of the A rated listed here on Angies didn't know what negative air pressure was.  Disheartened I turned to an out of state friend who has a business testing houses for energy efficiency.  Though his network of professionals I found Number One.  The other's seemed clueless about where to put a new return and how big it should be.  Dave's group not only understood but did airflow testing before hand.
The bid was 50 percent less than the one from another top contractor who seemed to know nothing about HVAC.
I had the work done during the time and day specified and it was completed according to the bid.
Afterword the house was comfortable for the first time, the sound reduced and air pressure no longer a problem.  Most of all I did't have to worry about co2 poisoning any longer.

The original problems of a broken toilet handle and a leak under the bathroom basin were fixed, but now the bathroom faucet didn't work, so we called them back.  A couple came on three separate occasions (always different men) to work with the "core" inside the faucet that distributes hot and/or cold water.  After the first fix, hot water came out of the cold side and vice versa.  Called them back, and two different workmen came and "fixed" it, saying it had been put in backwards.  After that, only lukewarm water came out.  After a final call, hot or cold water are now unpredictable.  When I mentioned that we might need a new faucet, they never agreed or disagreed or discussed where to get one or whether they would install it.  They just said "maybe" and left it at that as though they had done what they originally came for and gotten paid for and weren't interested in doing any more.  So while the original leak was fixed, we now have a problem we did not have before, and they showed no interest in fixing it.  Other than that, they were always polite and prompt, but I suspect their unprofessional crew would not even know how to install a new faucet, so I would not pursue it.

A job well done. The two technicians arrived earlier then I anticipated and immediately set to work. I had previously purchased the replacement valve and faucet unaware that the new parts were larger and would require some cutting to fit. The installation proved to be difficult due to the ceramic tile on the wall of the shower, it was denser than I realized. However the two technicians were able to work around it. The original quote was for an hour and a half the technicians arrived at approximately 9:30am and finished at 11:45am. While the task did run over the original anticipated time I consider the work well done in a reasonable time frame. I contacted multiple plumbers before this one. The quote was less than half of any other both in time and money. At all times the technicians kept their work area clean and maintained a professional attitude. I truly believe you won't get better service for your plumbing needs.

Excellent experience overall.
David Kaminski (Owner) and his helper arrived at the scheduled time and immediately began dismantling the swamp cooler and the original low-efficiency gas furnace. Each piece was loaded on their trailer as it was removed so there was no job site mess.
They were prepared to do this job from start to finish in one day so they didn't have to leave the site to go buy parts and supplies.
Existing conduit was left on the roof for the electrician to supply the 220 V power for the A/C unit on the roof. I knew from the very beginning (estimate appointment) that David would not do the electrical work for the A/C unit; but he would work with whomever I hired. After the electrician's work was completed, David came back to finalization the A/C installation.
The scope of work included installing a furnace shut-off unit if the condensation line failed to drain. During the extreme weather in January and February, 2011, the line froze (in the attic) on three different occasions so the temp in my house would be 50 degrees. David responded the same day to each of my service call requests. It was decided to run the condensation line through the laundry room wall to the drain for the washing machine. That solved the problem. David gave me several filters for the furnace until I could find a retail supplier here in town.
David gave me a hands-on tutorial for programming the new Pro1 digital thermostat.
He also worked with me to prepare the paperwork required to qualify for the US Stimulus Tax Credit for HVAC installations. This install also qualified for a NM Gas Co Energy Efficiency Rebate. It was extra work for him at no additional cost.
Installation of this equipment has enhanced my seasonal comfort level, as well as added significant resale value to my home.
I highly recommended David to several of my coworkers and they all were extremely satisfied with the cost, the quality of work and his professionalism.
