Description of Work: We have an annual membership with New Mexico Sports & Wellness. We go there to work out.

Description of Work: I've been a member for many years and am very happy with the classes, equipment and atmosphere. They have excellent instructors with a variety of classes--yoga, weights, stretching, aerobics, etc.

Description of Work: I was a member of New Mexico Sports & Wellness - Riverspoint since December 30, 2008. On March 2, 2011, I spoke with Vergie Vigil and said that I would like to terminate my membership. I was told that I needed to provide a written notice of termination. I requested that I be faxed that form, and I said that I would fax back the form. I received the form that morning and faxed it back within an hour. I was assured that I would not be billed for the month of May if I provided the written notice of termination. When I went online to my May bank statement, I discovered that I was charged $92.02 for the month of May. I spoke with Tom Antosik, the General Manager. He alleges that the fax was not received and stated that not only would I have to pay for May, but I would be billed $92.02 for the month of June. I filled out another termination form and signed it while I was in his office on May 2, 2011. I believe that I made it very clear to New Mexico Sports and Wellness Riverpoint that I wanted to terminate my membership. If a fax was not received, then they should have called to let me know there was a problem. It was clear that my intent was to terminate my membership. The Better Business Bureau has had 16 complaints within the last two years regarding billing practices of Wellpoint. I believe Wellpoint runs the New Mexico Sports and Wellness chain of fitness centers. New Mexico Sports and Wellness does not believe in good customer service and only cares about the bottom line and how much money they make.
