LARU NI HATI

This review is specifically about Greg. My previous stylist moved and my son said Laru Ni Hati was an excellent salon, so I made an appointment. The person on the phone was gracious and professional. I was delighted to find Greg was available that very day. Thus followed the ABSOLUTE worst experience I've ever had with a stylist. Almost the first words out of his mouth were (as clearly as I can recall), and quot;Ugh, you colored your own hair....It looks awfuland quot;. He then cut my hair and told me he did not blow dry curly hair in order to straighten it.. If I wanted it straight I could use his blow dryer and do it myself. To say I was taken aback by his incredible rudeness is a huge understatement. I told him I preferred my hair straight and he responded, and quot;Then dry it yourselfand quot;. Being intimidated (sadly) by his aggressive rudeness, I let him use a diffuser to dry my curly hair. He did nothing to check evenness of the cut and, in fact, I had to do some trimming the next day when I washed my hair. I have no doubt there are excellent stylists at this salon but the arrogance, rudeness and poor hair cut demonstrated by Greg insured that I would never return to this salon. I've been quite vocal with my friends about this experience. Also, one of the reason I joined Angie's list was to write this review. I don't think of myself as vindictive but be warned, this man is a egocentric jerk.

I researched stylists on Angie's List and found Laru Ni Hati Salon to be highly rated. I went to their webpage and read up on their stylists. Based on my needs it appeared that Dyan had the background I was looking for. I am in my 50's and have been wearing my hair in the same style (plus or minus a few inches) since I was in my 20's. I also have been highlighting my hair to the point that is was extremely blonde and my roots were prominent. Being an active, health-conscious person I wanted to find a stylist who understood that I wanted to change my look to enhance my maturing face and not make me look like I was trying to be 20 again.
I made an appointment for a consultation with Dyan because I wanted to be sure she understood what I was looking for. She spent 20 minutes with me listening to my thoughts/concerns and then she suggested what she thought would look good on me and match my expectations. I left the consultation feeling like I'd found the right person for the job. A few days later I returned and Dyan worked her magic! She lowlighted my hair with 5 different colors and took 45 minutes to create the new style. I am extremely pleased with the results!! Since this was a completely different look for my I was a bit nervous about recreating it at home. Dyan walked me through the steps I needed to take to do it and recommended products that would help me achieve the look. (I have very fine hair!)
My husband loves the new and quot;lookand quot; and I've been getting lots of compliments on it. The surprising thing is I am able to recreate the style at home!! Thanks so much Dyan!!

I've received the best haircuts of my entire life here. Dyan is an extremely gifted hair stylist. She has an uncanny capacity to inuit what makes sense and what doesn't and she has the extraordinary talent to realize what looks right. I love the place as well. They have all sorts of beverages and a pool table.

I moved here from Boston, and tried 2 other hair salons in Albuquerque that were highly rated on Yelp -- and got a really mediocre cut at one, so I tried the other -- where I got a series of terrible services. Finally I saw someone with a great haircut and asked where they got it -- they said Laru Ni Hati. I walked in on a Friday evening with no appointment, and met Liz. She gave me a GREAT cut! Very hip and fun. She's wonderful to work with -- a fun person -- and really knows her craft. The salon is so fun and friendly and unique, with the bar, pool table, and cafe. TERRIFIC in every way!

Donna at Laru Ni Hati highlighted and cut my hair. She did an amazing job! She's talented, professional and personable. The salon prices aren't inexpensive but the services are fabulous, so I'm a happy camper.

Initially, I continued to go to the owner, Greg, for haircuts,despite his obnoxious personality, because I always liked the way they came out. But when I finally brought my daughter to him, his unkindness got to be too much. First, he didn't wash her hair before cutting and when I asked him why he responded snottily "I don't wash hair," which isn't really true; he always had an assistant give me a wash before a cut. When we left, I noticed that my daughter was crying; it turned out she was really unhappy with her haircut. I convinced her that we should go back and get Greg to fix it, because in my experience that it what high-end stylists always do (they want you to be happy so you will come back). But Greg was so rude and mean to her that I finally had to cut off the conversation and get her out of there. I was shocked.

The first few hair cuts I got were good, then it was off and on. Great atmosphere. Fun place to go. After a while, he just had too much attitude. I could deal at first when I got a good cut, but not later on. Maybe I'll go back for the night cuts.

I phoned to get an appointment as soon as possible on my one day off and they got me in the next week with the stylist that was recommended to me. I was offered a complimentary drink before entering the waiting area. The stylist was receptive to my suggestions for a new cut and discussed the options with me before doing a professional job on very straight, fine hair. I have had compliments on the cut. I had a half leg wax after my haircut and having very sensitive skin with ingrown hair problems I was pleased with the results of my first experience with the technician (who also did my hair). I checked out with one of the owners, everyone was very nice and professional.

This is such a fun place to get your hair cut. It has a Cuban caf and you get a drink with your haircut. They play old movies and there is sometimes a DJ. The hairdressers are cutting edge but choose a cut that is appropriate for you. My son gets his hair cut here as well and is able to get a stylish cut instead of the standard "boy cut" he gets everywhere else. Every haircut I have gotten here has not only exceeded my expectations but gotten better with time!

The hair cut has always been great. My hair has been cut by three people there, always the late night (I'm a guy, I'm still cheap.) It's a good compromise between "a chain salon" and some shi-shi girly salon. The beer on the side is a nice touch.
