We were getting ready to start a family and though our house was relatively new and in a nice area, there were several things that didn't fit our "ideal house to raise our family in" criteria. We also knew that to get close to that ideal, we were going to have to get the most out of the sale of our existing house. Mike Cotter sat down with us and, just like on HGTV, went over low-cost things we could do to maximize the price we could get for our house and minimize the time it would take to sell. It took us a month to get through the list, but it was worth it. It took less than a month to get a contract on our house, and I believe the sale price was a new high for cost per square foot in our neighborhood. As for the new house, Mike again sat down with us and really listened to our hopes and dreams for this ideal house. He helped us to prioritize our list of "must haves" and "would be nices". We discussed our budget and how set we were on adhering to that. We discussed specific factors that would need to be present for us to lean toward the high end. And while he showed us several houses that we never would have considered on our own - including the one we bought! - he never, not once, showed us a house that didn't fit our criteria. Throughout the process, Mike was happy to take us back for a second, and sometimes third look at a house. He even sat with us for an hour at a house that was a strong contender, but rather close to the interstate, so we could get a feel for how much the road noise would be noticed. He was professional, informative and genuinely interested in helping us find the best house for our goals and our budget.
