We traded lots of emails as we worked out the design of the new building. They took my initial drawings, made many good suggestions, and sent me a number of revisions of floor plans and 3D drawings. Once we finalized the drawings, they furnished several full sets of plans.
After they solicited bids from a number of sub-contractors, we agreed on a price and signed a contract for the construction. J&Z took care of the permitting - which in unincorporated Sandoval county can be quite bewildering. Permitting took longer than expected, but that wasn't the contractor's fault.
Once we had the permits, construction moved along at a steady clip. A few small delays occurred due to weather and one inspector that seemed h***-bent on finding obscure items and being less-than-pleasant. The crews that came out all seemed to know what they were doing, and did their jobs well, They always took the time to answer my (sometimes dumb) questions.
The Jeebs and Zuzu General Contractor, Brent Templeton, knows his business and is easy to get along with. He understands that communication is essential, especially during a large project like this. He was always available by email, phone, or text and was genuinely concerned that I was pleased with the work.
Overall, this project went as planned, within budget, on time, and I was very happy with the results.
