HOMES BY NEW VISTAS

Pros:
Great value, owner has direct control of the design and selection of material
Reasonable markup on option items
Owner can select, or even purchase finishing items (e.g. lighting, plumbing fixtures) directly for the builder to install.
Price transparency.
Have some really good subcontractors (but not all).
Miles has a calm personality and is willing to listen to any complains.

Cons:
Owner has to be on site to monitor the construction progress, essentially becoming the on site supervisor, in order to catch any workmanship problem.
Poor followup on outstanding issues. Requires constant reminders. Will eventually fix an issue after much followups.
Poor scheduling with subcontractors and controlling them, not good with the order of how things should go in.
Poor scheduling with ordering building material and make mistakes on what to order.
Have some really bad subcontractors requiring followup correction work.
Do not hold subcontractors to a high professional quality standard, owner has to point out workmanship issues.

I won't use this company again because I don't plan on custom building another house, it was a very stressful process. However, if one wants to take advantage of the Pros above and is willing to control and mitigate the Cons, I would recommend using Homes by New Vistas. I did get a really nice house in return, it's the journey there that can be quite challenging.
