To start with George showed up two days earlier then what had been scheduled to remove our existing swamp cooler which was a major problem because we had scheduled the electrician to come out so that the system would be up and running the same day the units were supposed to be switched out. He showed up while me and my pregnant wife were at work, took the swamp cooler off my roof and then left. He never called to say he was doing it or if it was okay to do it early. We cam home to a house that was over 90 degrees hot with no way to cool it down. I sent my wife and small child to a hotel and stayed behind at the house. The next day I contacted George who immediately got defensive. I decided to try and work to figure a solution. The electricians could not come before the previously agreed upon nor could the cherry picker truck needed to put the condenser on the roof. So we had no choice but to live with it. George never apologized and communicated as little as possible. He installed the condenser backward so that the electrician had to punch a new hole in my roof to get the wiring to it, rather than using the existing roof jack opening. He also replaced my expensive programmable thermostat with a cheap control unit (I had call hm to get it back). I will say that the furnace/condenser that I choose was exactly what I wanted and worked just the way I hoped it would and that was the only positive about this experience. The biggest problem with this job was the duct work. Instead of balancing the system, George set up the new duct work so that the addition received a ton of air/heat, while our master bedroom now runs hot in the summer and cold in the winter. He again got defensive and said that we needed an additional duct and a return-air unit for the master bedroom and it would cost more. I told him that I was disappointed with his work so he responded by refusing to return to put the vent covers on the new ducts. Very unprofessional. I will never use him again and I hope no one every has this same type of experience,
Response from GNR HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING
"We are sorry [member name removed] feels the way he does. We were hired by a general contractor to install ducts into the new addition and convert the home to refrigerated air conditioning. The home owner wanted more work done after the job was completed, we feel that when he was charged for the work done, that this is when he got upset. We did complete the job, we may have left the grills for the contractor to install because the house was locked, but the contractor was contacted about the situation. The thermostat was replaced with a new thermostat of equal quality, which was swapped out for original due homeowners request. There is no way to install a unit backwards. The electrician, who was a friend of the homeowner, had a little more work to do, and complained. In fact we had to rewire what he did in the electrical panel for the unit, because it was done incorrectly. Again we are sorry [member name removed] feels the way he does. We feel that maybe there was a miss communication somewhere. We strive to keep our customers happy, Our tract record on this site prior to [member name removed] was perfect. We think [member name removed] is a bit extreme, in his review, and hope that his attempt to sway customers opinion of our company will be just that, an attempt."

I purchased an Old Town house built in 1939 and the existing heater was a nightmare. I had several HVAC companies out for a bid, and I was referred to George by someone I work with. He removed the "heater of death", and put a new AC/Heat package system on the roof. This adobe home had 18" of sand insulation in the roof, and he had to cut a 20"x20" intake vent, and a smaller return vent for the new system. He did an excellent job, was professional, and got the job done faster than estimated. I'd use him again, and would refer him to anyone.

As this was an older home, the electrical service needed to be upgraded to handle the new equipment. I had hired an electrical contractor to complete this portion of the project prior to contracting with GNR. I later found that I would have saved a substantial amount of money had I used the electrician that GNR normally works with.
As this was an extensive remodel, the home was not occupied. I gave George, the owner a key and allowed him to come and go on his own schedule. I was on site part of the time during the installation. The first step was to make the necessary roof penetrations for the new ducts. Then ducts were run throughout the house. Finally the new unit was hoisted onto the roof with a crane.
I found the owner George, and his son Nick to be very easy to work with. I found them to be fair and reasonable. They attempted to address my questions and concerns during the process. There bid was lower than one other that I had received b about 10% or 12%. They also know a number of other contractors and gave me leads on a good electrician who I subsequently used to upgrade the electrical service in the home. I also have contacted a roofer to whom I was referred by George.
