I was able to schedule an appointment within a week. The contractor showed up on time and began the job immediately. My furnace is in a crawl space under the house which brings certain complications to cleaning. My crawl space is like every other with a good layer of fine dust on dirt floor. This meant using a vacuum would be near impossible because it would create a larger mess than would be cleaned. Instead, the service technician used a small hand broom and disassembled furnace components to ensure a complete sweep. Because a vacuum could not be used the cleaning portion of the job probably took an extra 20 minutes to complete. This was not a big deal to me because I was home for the day and not on a time crunch. The extra time did not carry an additional cost.

After cleaning and tuneup, the service technician did a system check and replaced the filter. He then came into the house to check carbon monoxide levels at the supply vents. The total time was approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
