Description of Work: I had contacted and received an estimate from Cottrell Custom builders for a kitchen remodel to include new cabinets, countertops, light fixtures, sink and plumbing. I signed a contract with them on July 21, 2008. I paid a deposit that was half of the estimated bill. I had stipulated in the contract that demolition of the kitchen could not happen until the cabinets were in my garage. The Cottrell salesperson wrote on the contract that the estimated time of demolition would be Oct 10, 2008. Well that date came and went. I called Cottrell and was told there would be a slight delay. One more month passed and I called again to express my concern that I would be in a remodel over the holidays and requested that this not happen. Well it didn't. It was at a Spring Home Show that I confronted Curt Cottrell and asked him what he was doing about our contract. He said that times were slow and that until he got more orders he couldn't even order my cabinets. He admitted that he had spent my deposit on other bills. I investigated the option of taking him to court. In April 2009, I informed him that I wanted either my deposit back or the cabinets or I was going to take civil action. He ordered the cabinets and I got them into my garage in May 2009. Seeing how he violated our contract I refused to allow him to work on my kitchen. I found another contractor to complete the work.

 + 0 moreAlthough the quality of the onsite supervisor and workmen was excellent, the overall experience was frustrating. It was the first time I had hired a contractor and the first time I had extensive work done in my home. Cottrell did not spend enough time going over the process with me. He offered an "interior decorator" to help me with choice of tile, cabinetry, light fixtures etc. However, this young woman had NO skills in design and was disorganized. I made all of the decision with no input from her. Then she lost the instructions that I had given her and I had to start over again with tile selection. The coordination of the subcontractors was non-existent which led to frustrating and unnecessary delays.
Description of Work: Total remodeling of one bathroom. Installation of a shower surround in a 2nd bathroom.

 + -1 moreWe had a fair experience with them, it wasn t good and it wasn t bad. Their lead worker was inept and they replaced him. The schedule was always considerably behind, it seemed like we were low priority to them at times. The work wasn t very professional, it was good, but not great and not bad. We would not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They remodeled two bathrooms.

 + -1 moreTHEY ARE VERY PUNCTUAL AND RESPONSIVE. THEIR QUALITY OF WORK IS VERY GOOD. I NEVER HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. THEIR PROFESSIONALISM WAS VERY GOOD. THE COUNTERTOPS LOOK NICE.
