I am a born DIY person and a bit of a perfectionist. These guys are the first painters I have ever trusted to paint my house. To say i was leery is an understatement. At the end of every day I inspected their work and every thing I could nit pick they addressed the next morning before I could even say anything. They do great work, they are professional in how they do their work, and they do it as you would do it yourself if you had the time and expertise. Oh, and they are incredibly fast. 3.5 days to complete the house, detached garage, and stucco wall. A large job done right and fast.

TERRIBLE!!!!!!! I have so much overspray, paint globs and paint footprints that I have spent more time cleaning up than they did. I have paint on screens that I'll never be able to get off. I've walked my home 2x with the crew and they still missed areas. They oversprayed so badly on my porch I have to paint the entire ceiling, I'm still 2 weeks waiting for them to come complete the job. The only oversight the crew had was 1 visit by Carl (owner) who belittled the crew and rushed around my home and couldn't leave fast enough. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Certapro did an exceptional job.  The end result was perfect.  They were punctual every day.  The foreman, Cesar, communicated with us every day and answered every question we had.  They showed true professionalism.  The price was also quite reasonable.  After they finished, I called them back to clean up one drip area on a second floor window and they returned right away to take care of it.  I decided after the job was done to have them give me a bid for more work on my property.  Basically, my wife and I were very pleased and our house looks great

I have had continuing problems with this company.  I was told that the lines that were visible in my new stucco would fade over the next  6 months and they did not.  I contacted the owner in July and he told me that he would be out in the beginning of August to fix the problems.  He didn't call or show up at the beginning of August.  I called him back and he said the middle of August.  He didn't call and didn't show.  I called back at the beginning of September and he told me he would have it done by the end of the month.  I finally decided to contact the corporate offices around the 25th of September because he had not yet called to set up a time.  He told me he would come out on the 1st and then called and rescheduled for the 6th of October.  They did show up on the 6th and have been here for 3 days.  Most of the repairs they have done look great but we are not satisfied with one wall of the house.  I spoke with the owner this morning and he told me it was as good as it was going to get.  I referenced the contract which stated that they would repair all the defects in the stucco and he said it isn't the same as a new stucco job in which they can create a new surface.  They can only do so much (which is not what I was told when I decided to use this company).  I know they can repair the work but he just doesn't want to spend any more time on this project.  He even went so far as to imply that he didn't have to come out and repair any of it because it was not defective but he agreed it didn't look good and he realizes his name is attached to it.  In retrospect I should have not paid them until i was completely satisfied.  I am very dissapointed and so tired of companies promising one thing and then not following through.  "Salesman" Carl promised it would look uniform and they would repair any existing issues and "Owner" Carl is telling me I have to settle with the best they could do.

We were very pleased with the quality of work that was done. However, we HATE the color. It?s hard to spend that kind of money and end up hating the final color. Yes, we looked at two almost identical shades of the same color that were sampled on the wall. Surprisingly, it was immediately clear that we were not even close to what we wanted. But, it was also clear that the clock was ticking and that taking the time to re-select the correct color would put us behind schedule, and the wind was due any minute, and it would dry darker, etc? The work performed was very well done. Brian did a great job of taping and Patrick was a delight to work with. If Certa Pro wants a resounding endorsement, we will be happy to shout it from the rooftops when they come back and re-paint with the right color, not the expedient color.
One more observation about color. In our case, CertaPro offered no discussion about color selection until we inquired about when, where, how to select a color (Sherwin Williams). If this is most customers? experience, you will need to initiate this topic early in the project process.
Response from CertaPro Painters of Albuquerque
"We used the color the customer selected. We left colors (a brochure with 20 differenct 4-color color combinations) with the customer at the time of the estimate. We then told the customer when they selected us we would need a color selection prior to the job. When we were provided the colors by the customer, we put those samples (two colors on the wall). We did not buy any elastomeric until the customer stated to us the color was acceptable. I visited the job each day. When the customer met with me during the course of the job, they never once raised the issue of being unsatisfied with the color. While I am sorry they do not like the final color, they did not raise the issue with me and we painted the color they selected."

Everything went as Carl had said it would. The employees were here on time. Worked, even through lunch. At the end of the day, they would take down the plastic and clean up everything. They returned the second day and were completed the job and cleaned up all the materials and plastic. It took less than 24 working hours to complete the job.

They didn’t finish painting on cabinet doors.  They used a roller and it left a texture on the cabinets, instead of using a brush or spray.   It was a new guy who did the painting on the cabinets, and the supervisor was in another room so he didn’t see that the cabinets were painted improperly.  They came back to touch up some details they had missed, however the doors don’t look like they did before.  I called the owner and he said they would come back in March or April to look at it, but that is unacceptable.

Crew left a mess on the roof, this was pointed out to the supervisor on a warranty visit and was still not corrected. I have cracks in the stucco less than a year after the project was complete. I contacted Carl in July and the issues have not been resolved as of 11/15/13. Carl, the owner, refuses to come and evaluate the warranty issues in person. The supervisor did come out and fix less than half of the issues, have not seen him since he left two months ago. Would not hire certa pro again.

11/24/13

Carl, most of your response focused on the large crack on the  backside of the parapet.  Your production manager REPAIRED the large crack when he was here.  He felt that the issues where covered under warranty.  He also thought that the bubbling was covered under warranty, but he did not have time to repaired that day.  He stated that the stucco/elastomeric was failing prematurely and that he would do some research and get back with me.  I still have not receive a response.

My complaint has been a lack of response and a failure the fix the problems.  There are cracks on the parapets and lateral cracks on the walls ( See attached photos taken on 11/23/13).  You have not upheld your warranty.

You stated that my evaluation was inaccurate and did not reflect what has taken place.  The attached photos along with the correct version of the large crack being repaired, proves the accuracy of my evaluation.

Response from CertaPro Painters of Albuquerque
"This evaluation is completely inaccurate and does not reflect what has actually taken place. We were notified of a problem with the job at the [Member’s name removed]'s. We dispatched our production manager to review the job and repair anything that was wrong with the work we had completed. He inspected the entire house and did find a couple very small hairline cracks which he repaired on the spot. He also took photos of the complete house to log the fact of the repairs and that there were no other issues with our original workmanship. One photo does show a very obvious two to three-foot long opening on the backside of his parapet where the roofing below the stucco has separated from the parapet. This gap was/is allowing water into the wall. We were never contracted for any roofing work and we advised the [Member’s name removed]s they needed to have a roofing company repair this gap. After a series of heavy rainstorms in September, we were again contacted by Mr [Member’s name removed]. We again dispatched our production manager. This time Mr [Member’s name removed] pointed out an area on one wall where there was bubbling and detaching of the stucco. This problem area is on the exterior wall below the large opening where the roofing had separated. We pointed out to Mr [Member’s name removed] that the stucco and elastomeric above the problem area was intact and had no spots where water could have entered the wall. However, the roof gap was still there. We again explained to Mr [Member’s name removed] what the problem is. The water entry is a result of the roof leaking. Likewise, the damage to the wall was the result of the large amount of water that entered the wall through the roofing gap. It was not a problem with our work at all -- the roof is clearly and demonstrably leaking and allowing water into the wall. Any damage caused to Mr [Member’s name removed]'s wall by failed roofing is not our responsibility or covered by our warranty. We work hard to support our customers and will correct any and all failures of our work. In this case, we responded multiple times to the customer's complaint. However, the damage is not a result of our work as our photos will attest."

Job was completed in good time. The two workers were great, cleaned-up every day and were very detailed in their attention. It's a new product to us so we have to see over a period of years as to the quality. Very satisfied at this time.

Communication was poor; caused work to start a day late. Crew was pleasant, but didn't clean up after themselves well. Owner, Carl, was rude in phone calls and did not share important information. Payment in full was required on last day of job. I would not recommend this company nor use them again.

MAJOR problem in customer service and details. Quality of work is average. These guys, although very nice, seem so rushed that they leave a lot to be desired. We have many missed areas near the bottom of our house where they clearly just didnt pull back the rocks( like it states in the contract) and holes in the stucco that, despite me pointing out to both the owner and crew, we're overlooked. There was a residue on most of my patio furniture that I spent hours cleaning off. My patio furniture cushions were bleached by the sun because they were left in the sun over a 36 hour period ( I had thought they moved it back at the end of the day. They had not, and what's worse they just left it in our lawn over a 3 day weekend and my husband moved all of it back, numerous times. Besides the rushed quality and lack of detail, there is a serious communication issue. I had asked for a quote for trim for 7 straight days. I finally got it on the last day of the job, at that point i just wanted them gone. We have called twice for a follow up to address some bare spots & holes, after 12 days still no call back. I originally went with certapro because a neighbor up the street had the same work done 3 years ago. Back then, the quality & customer service was very different. Apparently there used to be a supervisor that followed up the job with an inspection. That would have helped us immensely. They seem to just take the money and run, while cramming in as many jobs as they can. I've had all my neighbors ask about our experience, and while I recommend the elastomeric product, I can't recommend Certapro at this time.
Response from CertaPro Painters of Albuquerque
"We dropped the ball on this one. First of all, the areas that were not finished off appropriately should have been done right in the first place. When the member notified me she had a problem, I in turn notified the foreman to go back and make sure it was taken care of the same week. I did not then subsequently follow up with the foreman -- if I had, I would have found out he didn't go back as instructed. We have since taken care of the member's issues. We have also initiated a change to our follow up program. Our production manager now calls every job upon completion and also calls every warranty call after it is reported complete to make sure the customer is satisfied. We believe with these steps we won't have any more "dropped balls" in the future."

Appointment for estimate was kept and on time. Process was explained and all questions were answered. Gabriel was the main painter and proved to be an incredibly dedicated worker who communicated with us every step of the way. He went out of his way to ensure we were happy with the job and was very respectful of our property. He was great with our dogs and very careful to not leave any gates to the street open. We were extremely pleased with his professionalism. Our house was transformed and we no longer have any cracks in the stucco. I would definitely hire this company again.

Scheduled apt on-line for estimate. Showed on time and quoted reasonable price. Lower price than others but lesser quality paint. Still good paint and was all I needed. Two man crew arrived on time to start job but their equipment (power washer) was faulty and would not run. First impression set the expectations for the rest of the job. I loaned them mine since it didn't seem that getting a replacement was going to be a timely endeavor. It took them a little over two days to complete the job. The work is pretty good. no drips no runs no errors. I'd been more picky if the price was higher but these guys did good for what they charge.

Carl Cockrum came to our house at the scheduled day & time to give us a quote for the elastomeric coating of the stucco and the exterior painting.  He provided us with a typed & clearly expained quote along with general information about CertaPro Painters.  Carl worked with us to set up a 2nd time to proceed with the work since weather issues & personal travel delayed the work.  The workmen arrived on the appointed day, calling ahead to confirm the day & approximate time.  The work was started on a Friday and completed the following Friday.  The men worked hard, were very professional & polite, and checked with us regularly to make sure that the work was being done to our satisfaction.  They matched the old stucco & paint colors perfectly and checked with us before applying any of the final colored material to the house and walls.  Carl also stopped by the house several times to check on the progress and our satisfaction with the work.  The workmen cleaned up around the house after completing the job.  We are extremely pleased with the completed work.
