Carlos' Blvd Barber Shop

I observed perhaps 10 customers being serviced by 3 barbers from 2:00PM to 5:00PM. All 3 barbers worked at the same slow & careful pace. You would think these barbers were sculpting marble heads for a museum collection - their work was so slow & meticulous. They would run the clippers over the head 3 or 4 times, ever so slowly & carefully. If I had filmed a haircut, you would be convinced I replayed the film at half speed. First the electric clippers, then scissors & back to the clippers a second, third, fourth time. They applied hot lather with a straight edge to the neck & behind the ears. Who does that anymore? They would pause to carry on conversations with each other & the waiting customers. Easy, teasing banter. No sense of hurry-to-get-to-the-next-paying-customer. Each customer must have felt fussed over & pampered, no doubt. Each customer spent no less than 45 minutes in the chair. It truly amazed me to see these barbers working at such a leisurely pace. Several waiting customers chose to leave rather than continue waiting, yet none of them seemed angry or upset. They just ran out of wait time. This did not seem to prompt the barbers to work any faster. The quality of work was excellent - each customer was handed a mirror to approve the workmanship. No complaints. I am definitely getting my next haircut here. I will be sure to arrive early so as not to experience a long wait.
