I initially contacted an Angie's List appliance repairman whom I had used in the past (Marshall's Appliance Repair) but since he was out-of-town, he was kind enough to recommend CP & Sons Appliance Repair as I was in need of an assessment immediately before I "lost" all the food in the refrigerator and freezer. I called the number he had provided and left a message early this morning (12/17/2015) regarding the urgent need for someone to come out to determine whether the refrigerator was "salvageable." Mr. Carlos Perez returned my call and stated that I was third on the list for service calls this morning and a technician by the name of Anthony could be here before 12 noon. Mr. Perez stated that if the refrigerator could not repaired immediately and I needed another one, he did have a fully reconditioned refrigerator that was only 5 years old. I stated that I did have an alternative plan of replacing this refrigerator with the same brand and thanked him for his offer.
Anthony arrived shortly after he called, stating that he was on his way. It did not take him long to assess the situation and he assured me that the refrigerator was "fixable;" he determined that the compressor was working but the motor/fan unit was completely "shot." He helped me to clear out the freezer section shortly after he arrived; I had already cleared out the refrigerator section as some of the food had already gone bad and placed the salvageable items outside where the temperature was cold over night. Anthony stated that he needed to call a distributor for the part and would provide an estimate for replacing this unit. Within a few minutes, I overheard him asking someone to pull a particular part for him as he would be by shortly to pick it up. He seemed to be gone only for 15 minutes or so, and within another 15 minutes or less, he had the new unit in place.
I was very impressed with the overall assessment and time it took from beginning to end as this helped to salvage all the food I had placed outside in the cold; the frozen food items were still frozen solid 2 hours after having the refrigerator/freezer functioning.
As an Angie's List subscriber, I received a 10% discount, which was quite a deal for the service call. I would highly recommend CP & Sons due to their immediate response time, courtesy and professionalism, and most appreciated discount. Their service also helped me to save a lot of money on purchasing a new refrigerator, especially around the holiday when finances are already limited.
He returned the 3rd time when my replacement (2nd) compressor came in and swapped it out and checked the wine cooler for functionality. All systems were go and he gave me the original price even though I had required him to come 3 times.
Carlos is a very polite and modest man with a winning smile and warm heart. We had the opportunity to talk over the 3 visits and both my wife and I think he's just great. I had a contracting/service business for 30 years and the highest compliment I can give is that I'd hire some one as my employee. Carlos is honest, sincere, knowledgeable and very customer orientated, I'd hire him as an employee in a minute. He gets an A+ rating from us.
One final note, Carlos' business is incorrectly listed in Angie's list as C P & Sons. There shouldn't be a space between the C and the P because it makes him hard to find in the Angie's listings
We explained that the refrigerator was randomly making an odd popping or knocking sound. We found an online recording of the same sound. Carlos had not heard it before. That wasn't surprising, because it only occurs about two or three times per day, at unpredictable times.
Carlos pulled the unit out and determined the compressor was significantly hotter than it should be. He recommended replacing it within the next several months. We elected to have him do it during this visit. The work involved a torch and other tools and took about two hours.
Carlos was very polite and tidy. When we explained that our kitchen ceiling fluorescent lighting shouldn't be used because it had been malfunctioning and making loud noises, he offered to check it out. He was able to eliminated the switch and tubes and issues, which identified the ballast in one of the two fixtures as the problem. He disconnected the defective fixture so we could use the other one until replacing the defective one. This was clearly beyond the scope of the service call, but Carlos did not charge for the extra twenty minutes of labor.
After the repair, the refrigerator is quiet and is cooling very effectively. We are very pleased with Carlos' work quality and professionalism.
Carlos was thorough, punctual, figured it out, a total pleasure. Even though this was my mistake, I was happy to pay him his service fee. Wonderful experience with lots of expertise.
I trust him and will call him whenever I need appliance repair.
She had to take her son to the doctor and her husband was working so I met Carlos when he did the work. He showed me the "burned" out part and showed me how it was installed when I asked him....
Great guy I will use him again.

My wife works with several single nurses and we have happily referred Carlos to them. He is safe and fair in his prices.
Over the past 1 1/2 years, we have had a Refrigerator, our Central A/C and (today) the second of two Refrigerators and our Water Heater looked at and subsequently serviced by Carlos.
My wife told me this morning that the water was not hot. I ran to the water heater to make sure it hadn't cracked (it didn't). I waited until about 7:30 and called Carlos. He asked what I had checked and I relayed that to him. He said that he would be able to get to me today and gave me a general time frame. He always calls us about an hour or so before that time to let us know he is on time, running late or whatever.
Carlos arrived and got right to work. As I've said before; we've used Carlos for other repairs. To see him coming to help us is just like welcoming a friend to the house. He identified the faulty part quickly. He had to go to get it, as we have an older unit. Carlos asked to see the refrigerator before he left so he would only have to make 1 trip. He checked it and said he had the part so there was no issue there. I did not worry about time as I was home doing yardwork anyway. Once again; Carlos to the rescue and a job well done.
I can do appliance repair myself... to a point... and then I want someone else, who is actually trained. About 1 1/2 years ago, I was referred to Carlos by an Appliance Parts Center. He had actually worked at this Appliance Parts Center and left to do the repair side and be his own boss. They said he had over 20 years experience when he left. We called Carlos and I was elated at how quickly he could come out to help us (that night). It was a fuse&capacitor that had blown out on our main refrigerator. It had fried some wiring and I was unsure how to proceed. The fridge was 8 years old and out of warranty and we had no want to replace it at that time. When Carlos showed up, I started having an appliance parts conversation with him. Was I testing him.... yes...
I have done this with pretty much all aspects of home repair. My wife even picked up on it. After that single event, I was sold. That was around November 2010. It was a cold rainy night (even for Albuquerque) and he came out to our house on his way home. We have referred him to two of our close friends also, but they are not Angies List subscribers. As I have indicated above; we would gladly (and HAVE) call him whenever we have any issue with our appliances, that we still wish to keep.
I want to elaborate on one issue that I have stated above, before I complete this. "A Fair Price."When I need something soon (today), I figure I may have to pay more. Some of our appliances can wait a day or two before they become critical (dishwasher / washing machine). Air Conditioning and Refrigerator/Freezers... they are typically an "I need it done now" situation. In every situation that I have encountered with Carlos, I factor that into my mental idea of a "Fair Price". And I can tell you, It got done today.
One super last thing; with Carlos, nobody will be pressuring you with a service contract or extended warranty speech. It's very simple with him; "call me if you need me". We have, and I hope this helps somebody out.
Sincerely; Frank and Alicia
*The next Day*
I personally saw the water heater on (burner was heating the tank) when Carlos left. It had to have been running/ working for at least a few hours because I took a shower and the water was warm. Somehow the unit went off, and no it simply was not the pilot light. Neither the burner or pilot would remain lit. It was a little late on Saturday so I sent a text msg to Carlos for him to help us the next day.
On Sunday, I went ahead and called him in the morning because I honestly didn't know if he would be able to get texts.
Carlos answered and let me know that he had a family event in the morning but that he would be here in the noon time.
Once again; with no warranty and no contract, he showed up and took care of the situation. It had to do with a fine adjusting of the burner to a flame sensor that is under the burner. This is a safety feature of the burner assembly and it was just finicky.
Carlos stayed for a good half hour after the adjustment, to make sure the unit was operating properly. There was no extra charge or hassle for coming back out or out on a Sunday. He wants his repairs and work to be good.
