Excellent service and quality of work.

I was in the process of selling the building.  I needed confirmation in writing from them that all the units were serviceable.  The potential purchaser was told by the renter that ALL units needed to be replaced.  After several promises to send me a letter, email or something I could forward to the buyer and my agent I never received them.  Just empty promises.  Very disappointed.  Subsequently they quit returning my calls.

My A/C went out on Sunday evening during hot weather.  I started calling down the list of Angie's List providers the next morning. Almost no one was scheduling appointments this week because of the upcoming holiday. The soonest I could get during the first dozen calls I made was for Wednesday afternoon, and that was for diagnostics only, not necessarily to fix it.  I have medical issues and knew I would not be able to go that long without air conditioning.
Then I got to C & J Heating & Cooling on the list, and James answered my call himself.  I explained the situation, and he was able to fit me in on Monday afternoon in between two other scheduled calls that, as luck would have it, would have him going near my neighborhood.    He called me when he finished his prior appointment so I would know when to expect him. He was prompt, professional, and had a lot of positive energy even though it was a very hot day.  I described the symptoms to him, and he immediately knew what to check on the compressor. He had the correct part available to alleviate the problem and had it installed quickly. He tested it out, and the air conditioner started up and ran perfectly.
The A/C has been running great now with no start up issues and it's cooling well.  And because of his willingness to fit me into his schedule right away, I was able to avoid more health problems.
I will definitely call James again when it's time to get the furnace in shape for winter, and I recommend him to anyone needing a cooling repair.

They were really good and they did extra. I was really happy with them. They were really knowledgeable about a lot of different kinds and in fact, really old systems and newer systems. They had their service and they had a little extra time and they went ahead and fixed our old heater in our son's room too. So, that was nice; we did not have to replace it. They had a pretty wide range of knowledge. I like them a lot. They were really helpful. When they fixed the other heater, they were really fair.

He spent quite a bit of time here trouble-shooting. The AC has worked since.

When I called, I specifically mentioned that this is a new house for us and that I planned on looking over the shoulder and asking tons of questions. James said that either he or Joe would be more than happy to explain how everything works, what to look out for, how to clean, etc., and that's exactly what Joe did.

It went great. I knew they had some other stuff that we needed them to do, which they did pretty well, efficiently, pleasantly and at a reasonable cost.

They were fantastic. I would absolutely recommend them. They were on time, efficient, explained things in a calm non jargon fashion. He had to go under the house because it was too cool under the house. They were very good.

I was very happy with the entire experience.

Service man was excellent. Competent and helpful, explained things, didn't rush, didn't skimp. Cleaned up upon completion.
I was late getting to my house. He had called me on my cell phone while I was in a meeting, and I couldn't answer. He was about to leave when I arrived, and was writing a note to stick on my door. Despite my tardiness, he stayed to complete the work without complaint, which I very much appreciated.

Good job all around.

Note about the price:
--$200 payment for the first visit is our best guess on this review since an answer was required. We can not remember what the actual cost was since the services rendered were about a year ago.
--Cand J made good on an Angie's List promotional discount and his price seem reasonable.

Reason for visits: (April 2012)

--We were having issues with a fine white dust accumulating on one half of our house. (The other half has it's own AC and Heating unit).
--After acting on Cand J's recommendation to have our ducts cleaned, we called Cand J back because the white dust issue persisted
--Cand J did a more thorough cleaning and inspection (as described under and quot;services performed sectionand quot;) but could not find any reason for the fine white dust. He did find the temperature gages were off a bit so recalibrated them. To do a more accurate recalibration, (if I understood him correctly), he needed to come back when the weather got up in the nineties which would be in another couple months.
--Cand J said that he would bill us for the second visit after he came back on the third visit when the weather was hotter.
Downside:
--We never saw him again. He did not respond to phone calls or emails so we never got the temperature gage recalibrated when the weather was hot.
Upside:
--He never billed us for the second visit even though we tried to contact him about it.
--Nice guy
The main reason we would not use him again is because he did not respond to repeated attempts to contact him. Too bad, because he was a nice guy and seemed to know what he was doing.
FYI side note: FINE WHITE DUST ISSUE FINALLY SOLVED 7 MONTHS LATER
--In November 2012, I hired a housekeeper to do a deep cleaning of my house. She informed me the fine white dust was due to the cold-air, ultra-sonic humidifer we ran every night in our bedroom. After discontinuing use of the humidifier, we didn't have any more fine white dust issues. Name of housekeeper: Marvella

Called C and J and received service the following day. On time and reasonable fee for servicing both CFA heaters and keeping our house heated during the winter. Will definitely use them again without hesitation.

Went well - impressed with the follow through. In fact, he hasn't sent me an invoice yet becuase he wanted to research the remote a bit more (although my own research convinces me it won't work). Definitely knowledgable and contientous.

Service was friendly, timely, and efficient. I was pleased and would use again.

The serviceman checked the furnace for leaks and checked for carbon monoxide in each room of the house with the furnace running. He would have changed the furnace filter, but my husband had already taken care of that. Everything checked out fine, so that was the end of the service call.

At first, it was a bit difficult to get in contact with him. He was nice enough to extend the expiration date for my and quot;Big Dealand quot; past October 1, since I don't turn my heat on that early in the season. When he came, he did a very thorough checkup on both heaters, including CO1 checks.

Serviceman found bearings were bad and had to replace them before swamp cooler startup. Serviceman was friendly.

Knows his stuff, and works efficiently. Sometimes slow to respond to phone messages, and actually never returned a call from a friend I referred to him.
