Excellent work, furniture was moved and replaced with care, painting was without drip, runs, brush marks, etc. The two painters were very courteous and professional. They were highly punctual, had all of the proper equipment and left our rooms looking like they had not been there except for a flawless new coat of paint..
I thought it best that I describe my experience by having you read the letter that I sent to the company. I originally sent it to Dan O'Neil in sales and estimating who was the one who came to my house in the first place. However after not getting a response I sent it to Chris Herman who told me he would see that it would get to Bob Herman, the owner. I have not heard a word from Mr. Herman either. Now there is another level of dissatisfaction beyond the actual painting.
Very frustrating. This is how they handle their customers, hiding from complaints.
Copy of letter I sent to the company.
To: Dan O’Neil, Estimator / Project Manager Re: Painting job xxxxx xxxx Road, Santa Fe, NM
Dear Dan, I am writing to let you know of my disappointment with the painting job your company completed on May 17, 2013.
I informed you during out phone conversation while your painters were here that the job I was getting was appropriate for a rental unit or perhaps a garage, and not appropriate for a living space inside my home. It began with them not removing the faceplates for electrical switches and outlets, and just painting over the plate while attached to the wall. The next was the not removing the plates for thermostats, alarms and smoke detectors. A little like cleaning carpet without moving furniture, or dusting around items on a shelf. This may be professional to you however to me it’s mediocre. I wonder if that would be acceptable in your home, for your family.
Here are a few items I would like to specifically call to your attention. The base board heating unit at the garage entrance was missing its face panel, it was in the laundry room next to the heater leaning against the wall. A very obvious missing piece to the unit. What do you suppose stopped the painter from asking: Where is the plate for this heater? If it is like the rest of the units it will need painting. Similarly a faceplate for a wall switch was not on the wall and one might think one would ask: Do you have a plate for this switch. Is this kind of thinking too much to ask?
There are paint stains on the carpet in the hallway. The carpet will be torn out soon so no worries on that one.
The preparation of the new plaster walls was poor at best and the paint'sappearance reflects the lack of quality. The plaster crack above the entrance to the living room that I specifically asked you to be repaired is already cracking again. My guess the job was done without any supporting mesh on the repair (see attached photograph). This is basic wall repair 101, and should have been done properly.
Perhaps this is a lesson in not choosing the lowest bidder as it will now cost me additional dollars to have the job done right. It could have so easily been done right the first time by paying better attention to details, and some common sense.
Sincerely,
Addition comments included in letter sent to Bob Herman.
Dear Mr. Herman,
I am forwarding a letter I wrote to Dan O' Neil as a result of viewing the video clips of you on your website. What inspired me was your language like and quot;zero defectsand quot;, team effortsand quot; and and quot;start to finishand quot;. You see the job you did for me has many defects and questions your concept of start to finish.
I am disappointed that I have not had a response to this letter from anyone at you firm. As a business owner myself I find this difficult to comprehend. I appreciate your enthusiasm and your commitment to your company, however actions always speak louder than words.
Have a nice weekend.
Sincerely,
