Near as I can tell, the work was good. But whereas Big M completed the work in just two hours, the company billed me for eight hours. Roundtrip travel time was 2.5-3.0 hours. Therefore, even counting all travel time, Big M billed me for three extra hours. When I appealed, Big M cut back to one extra hour. In other words, six hours in all. It reduce the charge very reluctantly and only after repeated phone calls, and indicated it was doing me a great favor.
Big M did tell me at the outset the charge would be a minimum of 8 hours; at the time, I assumed I had an emergency-type problem that would take a great deal of time and effort to repair. I was wrong.
Previously when Big M made a service call to my home, there was no billing problem or misunderstanding. I was well satisfied with the experience. Hence I was unprepared for the hassle on this new occasion. As a result of my new experience, I caution others to carefully probe Big M's pricing policies. (Ordinarily Big M simply states there is a two-hour minimum labor charge.)
Though previously I was impressed with Big M, I now feel that this company cares more about charging all it can than about setting a fair and reasonable price and preserving a mutually respectful and loyal relationship.

"Due to the distance of the service call we quoted the homeowner an 8 hr minimum which he agreed to before going out to perform the work. We usually do about 3-4 calls a day and due to the time it takes to go out to Mountainair and not knowing what the problem was and how long it was going to take to repair we could not schedule any other calls for that day. He did call to complain about the 8 hour charge and we explained to him that is what he was quoted. The owner did however allow him to deduct 200.00"

I requested a Kitec Settlement Claim Form from the Kitec Claims Administrator, so that I could file a claim against Kitec, not Big M Plumbing. It asks for such information as the amount of Kitec plumbing installed in the property, and the number and type of fittings used. So I sent a cover letter to Big M Plumbing with the parts of the form that I needed their help in completing. The package was returned and marked "Return to Sender" and "Refuesd". So, I give Big M Plumbing an "F" for Quality (using a defective product), an "F" for Responsiveness (since they rejected by letter without even opening it), an "F" for Punctuality for the same reason, and an "F" for Professionalism, which gives them an Overall "F".

Very Well. Turned out system needed to be purged and some valves were sticking. Big M knew what to do and did it right.

I like them. Their price is a little expensive but they are good. I had another furnace that no one could fix. It was a mess. I went to Big M and I purchased a German model. The heat efficiency is great with this new furnace I bought. They did a good job. This model is guaranteed for a long time.
